Afghanistan’s Khaama press reported that the explosion took place as the militants were busy making the IED inside a hideout in Andar district, leaving all 10 militants dead.

To target security forces, Taliban and other insurgents have been using IED as the weapon of their choice. IEC’s are the main reason to the casualties of the Afghan security forces and civilians.

The UN assistance mission in Afghanistan said in its latest report that more than 600 civilians were killed and 1,343 others were wounded in the first quarter of 2016. According to the report, the highest number of total civilian casualties caused by improvised explosive devices (IEDs), complex and suicide attacks, as well as targeted killings.

After the United States and its allies attacked the country as part of Washington’s so-called war on terror, Afghanistan has been gripped by terror for more than 14 years. Although the 2001 attack overthrew the Taliban, still it poses a significant security threat in Afghanistan.
