The Iraqi Air Force carried out a number of airstrikes against positions of Islamic State (IS) terrorists in the western province of Anbar. As result, at least 100 members of the IS terrorist group, including some high-ranking commanders, were killed.

According to Iraqi Interior Ministry’s statement, released on September 9, eleven airstrikes were conducted by the F-16 fighter jet in Akashat, Qaim, Rawa, Anah and Rutbah districts on September 6. The airstrikes killed a top Saudi IS terrorist, who was responsible for execution of a number of Iraqis, as well as destroyed a large amount of the terrorists’ weapons, explosive devices and ammunition.

On September 9, two bombs were detonated by IS terrorists at the Nakheel Mall across from the Oil Ministry in eastern Baghdad. At least 12 people were killed, while 40 others were wounded, many of whom are in critical condition.

On September 8, members of the terrorist group detonated a bomb near shops in the Euphrates neighborhood, southwest of the capital. The attack killed 2 people and wounded 5 others.

Over the past months, IS terrorists have been organizing terrorist attacks in Iraqi cities, in particular, in Baghdad, trying to make up for its loss on the battlefield.
