A US service member was killed in Afghanistan on July 13, NATO’s Resolute Support mission said in a statement without giving further details.

The Taliban took responsibility for the incident. According to the Afghan movement, its members used an improvised explosive device to target a U.S. vehicle in the Sayedabad District in the province of Wardak.

On July 14 morning, the U.S. Army identified the killed soldier as a decorated Green Beret. According to the army statement, Sgt. Maj. James G. “Ryan” Sartor, 40, of Teague, Texas, joined the Army in June 2001 and was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division. Sgt. Maj. Sartor had been deployed to Iraq several times in recent years. He was deployed to Afghanistan, too, in 2017 and 2019.

The US Army noted that he earned several awards and decorations, and will be posthumously awarded with a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star medal.

10 Terrorists from most powerful terrorists nation USA destroyed in Afghanistan.

verner

it is so that the taliban has won, it’s now a question for the disintegrating states of A to work out an end to this unfortunate occupation that has cost taxpayers more than 1 trillion bucks and absolutely nothing to show for the expenditure. of paramount interest is that the end appears to be a victory and not a defeat like in vietnam in 1975, and that’s the problem. talibans can sit and discuss this matter till the end of time but the yanks can’t so some urgency is needed since remaining in afghanistan is more tax payer’s money down a drain. and then you have the thorny question how to ship the weapons and the materials back home – through Iran or through kazakstan and Russia. either way will cost them dearly.
