11 Killed, 36 Injured in Car Bombing in Istanbul

At least 11 people were killed and 36 injured as result as a car bombing in Turkey’s Istanbul on June 7. The information about the casualties is provided by Istanbul’s governor, Vasip Sahin.

The attack took place near the city’s historic Beyazit Square neighbourhood.

According to reports, the car bomb targeted a bus with Turkish military servicemen. Shots were also reported.

Recent major attacks in Turkey:

  • March 2016: 35 people killed by an attack in Ankara and 4 in a suicide attack in Istanbul
  • February 2016: 28 killed in a bombing against the military convoy in Ankara
  • January 2016: 12 German tourists killed in a suicide bombing in Istanbul
  • October 2015: More than 100 people killed in a double suicide bombing at a Kurdish rally in Ankara
