14 Syrian people were killed and dozens others were injured on November 16 when a booby-trapped car exploded in the Turkish-occupied part of the northern Aleppo countryside.
According to Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the deadly explosion took place in the area of al-Karaj in al-Bab’s city center early in the morning. The area hosts a bus station and a small market.
Nine of the casualties were civilians, while the rest were militants of the Turkish-sponsored Syrian National Army (SNA) and the so-called Free Military Police.
“The number of people killed and martyred could rise due to the presence of more than 33 wounded, some of them are in a critical condition, many are also still missing,” the SOHR’s report reads.
The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the People’s Protection Units (YPG) were held responsible for the attack by the Turkish Ministry of National Defence. The ministry claimed in a short statement that Kurdish groups are mimicking the terrorist attacks of ISIS.
The Turkish Ministry of National Defence and Syrian opposition activists accused Kurdish factions of planning similar bombings before. However, they are yet to present any evidence to back their claims.
