On June 6, a car bomb exploded near the Turkish-occupied town of Ras al-Ain in the northern countryside of Syria’s al-Hasakah.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the booby-trapped car blew up near Tell Halaf silos south of Ras al-Ain. The Turkish military and its Syrian proxies are known to be present in the area.

Eight people were reportedly killed and seven others were injured as result of the car bomb attack. The casualties were all civilians.

A day earlier, a similar explosion rocked Ras al-Ain’s center. At least two people, including a child, were killed and seven others were injured.

There were no immediate claims for the attacks. As usual, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) were accused by some opposition activists. However, no evidence was presented.

The Turkish military and its proxies are making serious efforts to secure their areas in northeast Syria. Yet, the security situation there is deteriorating.
