19 Turkish-backed Syrian militants were killed while they were fighting on the side of the Government of National Accord (GNA) in Libya, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) revealed on January 16.
In the report, the London-based monitoring group said that 1,750 Syrian “mercenaries” have been deployed by Turkey in Libya, so far. 1,500 others are receiving training in Turkey ahead of their deployment.
“The recruitment process continues, significantly, whether in Afrin or the Euphrates Shield areas [in the northern Aleppo countryside],” the group’s report reads.
According to the SOHR, all 19 casualties were fighting in the ranks of the Mu’tasim Division, the Sultan Murad Division, The Northern Hawks Brigade and the Hamza Division. The four groups are key members of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA).
A recent report by the Guardian revealed that each Syrian militant deployed in Libya is receiving a monthly salary of $2,000, as well as a promise to be granted a Turkish citizenship.
Turkey began deploying its Syrian proxies in Libya last December with the aim of supporting the GNA. They participate in the GNA effort to fend off a large-scale attack by the Libyan National Army (LNA) on Tripoli. This step is yet to pay off, as the LNA is still making gains in northern Libya.

I am surprised that Erdogan didn’t propose to them even more attractive UK, Swede, German and Norwegian citizenship instead of Turk?!

I don’t know who the dowvoter is it never identifies who downvotes , only the upvoters. Quite often as soon as I make a comment it gets a downvote but never anyone saying they disagree. I thought it was someone else so i was just giving him a wind up for a reaction..
You are telling me? I have that all the time ! And I had same reaction like yours asking 4 down voters POLITELY and all others who disagree to say where I was wrong. That another comment instead of any reaction comments got down voted FIVE TIMES. So I do not care any longer… The guy who down voted you is Turk and he does that to those who talk anything opposite to Turk interests.
I usually just shrug it off as not everyone agrees , what a boring world we would live in if everyone agreed on everything. This time I thought I would see if I could get a reaction from him but no likes to hide in the background.. As you say if they say I disagree because …. fine.. I will say I disagree with something and say why and upto them to reply back. Using sneaky downvotes is just weak so I don’t really care about them.. Just bored this time I guess. I don’t look that people “agree” with me all the time…Far from it. I just want that people stay correct…Bat they never are in plenty of cases. Even that to expect is too much it seams… So I stopped to look for correct attitude altogether. People just avoid to answer in for them difficult situations. Even if you ask them very POLITELY and DIRECTLY. They will ignore you. But they do not hesitate to attack specially when they see somebody exposed to attack of few other they will react like wild animals in the pack and find reason to attack you as well….A human nature, not very noble indeed. I also use down votes now . Since I can’t change thing in this situation.. I do it like everybody else and I am not happy or proud because of that. That’s the way it is.

So you are from UK? I just can’t understand that you don’t know that Turks are “candidates” for decades already and they never moved one step further than that. With their war against Kurd’s in Syria and situation with Cyprus they have moved even more further away from EU. Normally people from EU know those things…maybe not in UK. Even if you are of Turk origin I don’t care…But there are still many countries in the Balkans and Ukraine , Moldavia for expansion (within Europe) so why would Turkey be so important or unique option?
