19 people were killed and 45 others were injured on November 26, when a booby-trapped car exploded in the Turkish-occupied town of Tell Halaf in northeast Syria, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

The explosion took place in the morning in the town’s main market, which was heavily crowded by civilians and Turkish-backed militants at the time.

The UK-based monitoring group said in a report that 12 of the fatalities were militants of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA). The rest were civilians, including a woman and a child.

“The number of people killed and martyred may rise due to the presence of 45 wounded, some of them are in a critical condition,” the SHOR’s report, that was released on November 27, reads.

Despite the lack of any solid evidence, the Turkish Ministry of National Defence held the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) responsible for the bombing. Neither groups have commented on these accusations, so far.

During the last few weeks, the Turkish-occupied parts of northeast Syria witnessed a series of similar bombings. Dozens of militants and civilians were killed as result.

Why do I get a smile on my face? Pity for the civilians if there are any.

Karen Bartlett

I wouldn’t trust anything SOHR says.

Derek Johnson

But it makes Southfront feel good to spread the fake SOHR news news when it suits their narrative.

Mehmet Aslanak

Yeah, you better don’t trust those news, which are easy spread fakery. Even look at “Turkish-occupied” term… Why no Turks die if it was really Turkish-occupied???

John Wallace

Why kill the civilians if they have no choice who rules their town. That only turns them against those doing the bombing. Fine to target areas that are mostly military and if civilians get killed so be it but to target a market where most are likely to be civilians is self defeating.
