Militants of the Islamic State West Africa Province briefly captured Monguno, and seized a large number of equipment and weapons from government forces. They were forced to retreat from the village after the Nigerian military deploed warplanes to pound militants. During the attack, miltiants actively used motorcycles and pick-up trucks equipped with weapons.
