200 US soldiers and military advisors have arrived in the Al Asad Air Base in the Iraqi province of Anbar, local media reported on September 6, citing various military sources.
The Western media reported in July that about 400 soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division are set to deploy to Iraq as part of US effort to set up a logistics base in the Al Asad Air Base, located south of the ISIS stronghold of Mosul.
These soldiers are among the 560 additional troops that President Barack Obama approved for the Iraq mission in July.
According to the Pentagon, there are some 3,800 US forces in Iraq. However, this number does not include hundreds who are on temporary duty and not included in the official count.
