AlMasdarNews reports: More than 2,000 displaced civilians returned to their homes in the Hama Governorate on Wednesday after local reconciliation committees, led by a Russian council, helped facilitate an agreement between the government and opposition forces to cease hostilities in the area.
The 2,000+ displaced civilians reportedly returned to the village of Al-Waqa’at, which is located just 20 km north of Hama’s provincial capital.
Russian reconciliation advisers were seen passing out food and aid to the returning civilians while also helping the people get readjusted after years of displacement.
Similar to the other reconciliation agreements, the returning civilians will be allowed to restart commerce and govern their own villages under the supervision of local committees delegated by the Russians.
