At least seven people were killed and 14 others were injured on July 7 when a booby-trapped vehicle exploded in the Turkish-occupied town of Tell Abyad in northern Raqqah.
The vehicle reportedly blew up in Furn square near the local police department in the center of the town in the late hours.
Enab Baladi, a pro-opposition outlet, claimed that three children and a woman were among the victims. In addition, some of the wounded are in a critical condition.
The Turkish Ministry of National Defense claimed that the attack had been prepared by the People’s Defense Units and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party. As usual, no evidence was provided to support these claims.
Head of Tell Abyad’s local council, Wael Al-Hamdo, told Enab Baladi that the booby-trapped truck had entered the town from the nearby areas, which are controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces. This has yet to be verified.
A series of explosions targeted Turkish-occupied areas in northern and northeastern Syria over the past few months. Dozens of civilians and militants were killed.
While Turkey accuses Kurdish forces of preparing these attacks, its proxies are doing nothing at all to stop them. Some opposition activists even claim that corrupt Turkish-backed militants are facilitating these attacks.
