Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks with his US counterpart, Barack Obama, during his stay at the UN General Assembly, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin press secretary, said. The meeting will take place after the Russian presidents address at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly on September 28. The situation Syria will be a top issue of the meeting. According to Peskov, If there is enough time, the Ukrainian issue will also be discussed by the leaders of Russia and the US. Its unclear how Poroshenko will explain his little ultra-nationalist friends why Ukraine isnt a top issue of the negotiations. I mean all Ukrainian patriots know that Ukraines problems are the only important issue in the world.

US Army General John Campbell has sent five different recommendations to the Pentagon and to NATO officials in Brussels, each with its own risk assessment. The options include keeping the current US presence at or near 10,000; reducing it to 8,000; cutting the force roughly in half; and continuing with current plans to draw down to a force of several hundred troops by the end of 2016. Some officials worry that withdrawing too many troops will take a bite out of the US influence in Afghanistan. Especially in case, the peace talks between Taliban and the Afghan government will end with success. Thus, the rise of the Taliban’s political influence could lead to a pivot in the relationship between the US and Afghanistan.

China has successfully launched a newly-developed carrier rocket, capable of taking satellites into the orbit, as part of the countrys space program. According to a report by the official Xinhua news agency, Long March-6 was launched on Sunday from a base in the northern province of Shanxi. The 29.3-meter-long rocket carried 20 micro satellites into the space. China produces a homegrown satellite navigation system and launches its own satellites. The country is reportedly planning to place a lunar probe on the dark side of the moon before the end of the decade in 2020. It will strongly increase Chinese intelligence capabilities.
