Taliban fighters have launched a large-scale attack on Highway 601 in the western Afghan province of Helmand. The strategic highway links the city of Lashkargah, the capital of the province, with the main road between Kandahar and Herat.
An Afghan security source told TOLOnews on October 11 that Taliban fighters had captured a number of checkpoints along the highway during the attack. Four Afghan service members were killed and at least eight others were injured in the attack.
TOLOnews said the Afghan National Army and the Air Force responded to the attack on Highway 601 with a series of airstrikes and ground assaults.
According to Helmand officials, 26 Taliban fighters were killed and four others were injured as a result of the airstrikes and ground assaults.
Despite the Afghan military response, Highway 601 is still closed for civilian traffic. Taliban fighters are yet to withdraw from the highway.
The attack is one of many launched by the Taliban against Afghan government forces following the February 29 peace agreement with the U.S. The group is now engaged in direct peace talks with the Afghan government.
Only if Taleban stops all attacks on Americans and US property in Afghanistan, leave all the opium crops they invaded to Americans, stop destroying opium crops, leave management of all opium trade to Americans. Enter into a peace deal with the US appointed Afghan government and US appointed local governors, maintain gay marriages, female qoutations to all management positions, LGBT rights and a new Green Deal in the Afghan legislation, ban Russia, Iran and China from enter rare metals in Afghan, we leave Spring 2021.
If just 1 of these conditions are not kept, all tools are on the table and Taleban is guilty of breaking the deal. Because the only thing Taleban want is war and aggression against an American.
