The rally “Labor, Peace, Democracy” was targeted by explosions. Turkey’s largest trade unions were planning to to protest the Turkish government’s renewed military campaign against rebels from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). No terrorist groups have claimed responsibility for this attack. Nonetheless, it comes amid the Turkish security forces’ operations aimed to destroy Kurdish resistance in the country. This terrorist act will be likely used by Ankara to justify its position against Kurds in Iraq, Syria and in Turkey.
