The rally “Labor, Peace, Democracy” was targeted by explosions. Turkey’s largest trade unions were planning to to protest the Turkish government’s renewed military campaign against rebels from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). No terrorist groups have claimed responsibility for this attack. Nonetheless, it comes amid the Turkish security forces’ operations aimed to destroy Kurdish resistance in the country. This terrorist act will be likely used by Ankara to justify its position against Kurds in Iraq, Syria and in Turkey.
At least 30 people have been killed and 126 injured in two blasts at the venue for a peace rally in the Turkish capital, Ankara, Interior Ministry said. According to the Turkish government, the explosions are suspected to be a terror attack by suicide bombers.
