The Russian military carried out 33 group strikes against targets in Ukraine over the past week, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on July 26.
”From 20 to 26 July, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have carried out 33 group strikes with precision-guided weapons and strike drones, as a result of which the following have been hit: facilities of the Ukrainian military industrial enterprises for the manufacture of gunpowder, the production and repair of armored vehicles and the energy infrastructure that supplied them,” the ministry said in its weekly briefing.
“In addition, UAV [unmanned aerial vehicle] assembly facilities, ammunition and missile artillery weapon depots, military echelons with AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] hardware and military personnel as well as temporary deployment areas for foreign mercenaries have been hit,” it added.
Also in the briefing, the ministry provided a summary of Russian ground operations against Kiev forces in the special military operation zone during the week.
According to the ministry, the Sever Group of Forces improved the tactical situation in its direction and inflicted losses on two AFU mechanized, motorized and assault brigades as well as on two marine brigades, three territorial defense brigades and formations of the Ukrainian National Guard. The group also repelled 21 counter-attacks.
“The AFU losses were up to 1,385 Ukrainian troops, five United States-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and 24 motor vehicles,” the ministry said. “In addition, two Croatian-made RAK-SA-12 MLRS [multiple launch rocket system], 23 field artillery guns, including five U.S.-made M777 howitzers as well as three field ammunition depots have been eliminated.”
The ministry also confirmed that the Zapad Group of Forces liberated Rozovka and Peschanoye in the Lugansk People’s Republic in addition to Nizhniy in the Kharkov region.
The group also defeated six brigades of the AFU as well as three territorial defense formations, said the ministry, adding that nine counter-attacks were repelled.
“The AFU losses were up to 3,640 Ukrainian troops, four tanks, including one German-made Leopard tank, 10 armored fighting vehicles, including four U.S.-made M113 armored personnel carriers and 68 motor vehicles,” it said. “In the course of counter-battery warfare, 36 field artillery guns, including nine Western-made self-propelled artillery systems and 155-mm howitzers have been hit. Eight electronic and counter-battery warfare stations and 21 field ammunition depots were also eliminated.”
During the same period, the Yug Group of Forces liberated Ivano-Daryevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, according to the ministry.
It added that the group launched strikes on five mechanized, two airmobile and four assault brigades of the AFU, noting that six counter-attacks were also repelled.
“The AFU losses were up to 4,640 Ukrainian troops, six tanks, 23 armored fighting vehicles, including two U.S.-made M113 armored personnel carriers and 44 motor vehicles,” the ministry said. “In the course of counter-battery warfare, 64 field artillery pieces have been hit, 37 of them were Western-made, 12 electronic and counter-battery warfare stations as well as 13 field ammunition depots.”
The ministry also announced that the Tsentr Group of Forces improved its tactical position, repelled 42 counter-attacks and struck eight formations of the AFU, two territorial defense brigades and two Lut assault brigades of the National Police of Ukraine.
“The enemy losses were up to 2,525 troops, five tanks, including two U.S.-made Abrams tanks, 10 armored fighting vehicles, 24 motor vehicles, 30 field artillery guns and nine field ammunition depots,” it said.
From its side, the Vostok Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and inflicted losses on two AFU brigades, two territorial defense formations and two Ukrainian National Guard brigades, the ministry said.
“The AFU losses were up to 835 Ukrainian troops, two tanks, 30 motor vehicles, 23 field artillery guns, including 12 howitzers and 155-mm self-propelled artillery systems manufactured in NATO countries as well as six electronic warfare stations,” it added.
The ministry also announced that the Dnepr Group of Forces inflicted fire damage on mechanized, infantry, mountain assault brigades of the AFU, one marine brigade, three territorial defense brigades and National Guard brigades.
“The AFU losses were up to 100 Ukrainian troops, one tank, three armored fighting vehicles and four motor vehicles,” the ministry said. “In addition, during counter-battery warfare, 18 field artillery guns, including five U.S.-made M777 howitzers, six electronic warfare stations and six field ammunition depots have been hit.”
Also during the past week, the Operational-Tactical Aviation, UAVs, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces have eliminated two U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS launchers, seven Grad MLRS launchers, two launchers with the AN/MPQ-65 radar station of the U.S.-made Patriot air defense system, two S-300 air defense system launchers as well as two ST-68 and P-18 mobile radar stations for detecting and tracking air targets, according to the ministry.
During the same period, Russian air defenses shot down one Mi-8 helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force, ten U.S.-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles, two Tochka-U tactical missiles, nine French-made Hammer aerial bombs, 36 U.S.-made HIMARS projectiles and 623 UAVs.
The ministry also revealed that 63 Ukrainian troops surrendered over the past week, 27 of them in the area of responsibility of the Dnepr Group of Forces.
“In total, 630 airplanes and 278 helicopters, 28,464 UAVs, 556 air defense missile systems, 16,684 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,390 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 12,416 field artillery guns and mortars as well as 24,086 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation,” the ministry concluded.
All in all, Kiev forces suffered heavy losses as a result of Russian group strikes and ground operations over the past week. The strongest blows were in Lugansk, Donetsk and Kharkiv.
