Apple – You Must Think Different

“No Presence In Iran”

Apple Inc. has recently removed popular apps from its App Store that were accessible in Iran.

So-called “new-age global corporation” said that a move was made to comply with the US national sanctions against Iran as a country.

“Under the US sanctions regulations, the App Store cannot host, distribute or do business with apps or developers connected to certain US embargoed countries,” Apple said in a message to Iranians.

The New York Times anticipated an action like it “has not stopped Iranians from snapping up millions of iPhones smuggled in from places like Dubai and Hong Kong. Nor has it kept Iranian app developers rom creating thousands of apps for local users and offering them through App Stores outside Iran”.

From the Iranian side, Information and Communication Technology Minister of Iran, Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi tweeted, promising to “legally pursue” the case: “Today, respecting consumers’ rights is a basic principle which Apple has not followed… IT should be used for making human life better and comfortable not a tool for discrimination between countries.”

The hashtag #StopRemovingIranianApps has been trending on Iranian social media for several days, after Apple removed at least 10 of the country’s most popular apps from its online store.

Apple – You Must Think Different

Those now missing include Amazon-style shopping apps Digikala and Bamilo, ride-hailing apps Snapp and Tap30, discount store Takhfifan and a brunch delivery service called Delion.

“We are unable to include your app on the App Store,” a message sent to some of those companies reportedly said.

“Under the US sanctions regulations, the App Store cannot host, distribute, or do business with apps or developers connected to certain US embargoed countries.”

The United States lifted some sanctions on Iran, particularly in the aviation sector, under a 2015 nuclear deal that saw Tehran limit its atomic programme.

But American individuals and companies are still barred from doing any business with Iranians because of much older and non-nuclear related sanctions on the Islamic republic.

Iran’s youthful and well-connected population own some 40 million smart phones, six million of them iPhones, the government-owned Iran Daily newspaper reported.

Apple Inc. has once again confirmed itself as an ordinary puppet structure operating in profit of US/Global elites. Earlier it was obviously not a matter of question that all Apple’s actions against official Beijing and Moscow were politically motivated.

However, today on the global market there are a number of alternative solutions that already surpass the software and hardware capabilities of Apple solutions. It is quite possible that these Apple’s actions will lead to the rapid development of alternative solutions freely available to all users around the world.

One of the corporations owning US government fully supports sanctions imposed by said government. What a shocker.

Jan Tjarks

Go on killing your business Apple, the sooner this nonsense is gone.

Bru

yes I agree, never buy anything from Apple

Nassim7

Apple is about to repeat its own history.

goingbrokes

Corporation joins the war. Well, war works both ways Apple Inc. Good luck sustaining the damage.

Android makes up the other 34 million, what a small market share for Apple iphone , Samsung must have a large majority there.

Barba_Papa

As a US company Apple is forbidden from entering the Iranian market. As a Korean company Samsung is under no such restrictions. Therefore you see a shitload of Korean, Japanese and Chinese products and logos inside Iran. Especially LG is HUGE there.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Apple is an overrated product most of it’s technology comes from other proprietors about 80% of the phone is from proprietary technology meaning they have ton licence fees to pay. The bottom line is they need to compete and expect them to seek special allowances to conduct trade.

All the products you mentioned are android and are contributors to the iphone technology, Samsung alone makes about 20 billion from Apple.

Solomon Krupacek

why do you mix here other issues? in this article is irrelvant, that you thin, is 80% overrated. imprtant is what barba papa told. that is the only 1 truth. every more words is shitvomiting.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Those are just the hard facts in what they pay in licencing the tech, even they got caught stealing a case design from a developer who successfully sued them , wrong choice in that, since he was a developer and programmer working with the CIA.

Solomon Krupacek

irrelevant under this article.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Totally relevant with the comment now stop being an an irrelevant with your childish nonsense. Everything you say seems to have flaws and it is starting to show on your obvious lack of knowledge in this, Apple has gone downhill since Jobs in all regards and has taken a political stance which is detrimental to business in the long run. Their products are hardly even US made nor the tech is , so it can technically go around all this stupid nonsense.

Jan Tjarks

No Jobs, no jobs.

Barba_Papa

Not a big fan of Apple myself. Quite the contrary, it’s the new Evil Empire, replacing Micro$oft. But they’re really good at making themselves trendy and as a result far too many people, including Iranians, want their overpriced and closed off products.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The Koreans have a huge market there with LG and Samsung , this is just they are making apps designed by locals incompatible with their product and they are the ones to lose the money.

Bru

Well I think they should never have bought anything from Apple in the first place. Even without knowing about such US supremacist actions, don’t buy Apple, never anything from them, it enslaves you in a closed system and you then make then billionaires even richer: Apple makes 20% of the sales but 80 % of the profit, the devices are manufactured for almost nothing by Chinese slaves; in Europe they do as if all sales are occurring in Ireland, paying no sales tax; on top of that, the company has fake headquarters in some islands so they don’t pay any taxes.

Just take an open-source system, Android, on your smartphone and tablet. And ideally a Linux distribution (open source again) on your PC or else Windows (not so closed as Apple). And most of these devices are not manufactured by a US company (such as Apple).

I hope this story opens the eyes of Apple customers here at Southfront.

Ronald

Best comment of the year . Last line especially .

Bru

Thank you, Bru

Bru

BTW, Yandex works on Android, Windows, Linux…

Rob

Majority of apple apps developed in Iran by Iranians in Persian language. Just apple have axed their own business.

Barba_Papa

Funny, when it comes to not paying any taxes American corporations like Apple always manage to find a million loopholes not too. I reckon with all these smartphones only smuggled into Iran, Apple probably figured that since they weren’t selling there directly the Iranian market just wasn’t worth it to put their legal division to work to circumvent US law.

Igor Dano

Why do not Iranians buy Huawei?

Rob

Still Iran can use apple products but apple products are insecure. Iran must have their own software industry and to develop their own operating system. Its not difficult to develop their own operating system for their own security purpose. Then the same Operating system can be used in super computers, desktop/laptop computers, mobile phones, TV, fighter jets, commercial jets, helicopters, tanks etc.

Solomon Krupacek

Apple only followed the governmental rules. This is normal. In al countries is the same system.

swirlydragon

Wasn’t apple one of the companies that condemned Trump’s Muslim ban and now they are doing this? Aren’t they being racist now? Talk about double standards smh Well anyway, I got a good reason not to buy any apple products from now on
