A commander of a local paramilitary group affiliated with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) 4th Division has survived an assassination attempt.
According to opposition sources, an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted the commander, Dani al-Sheikh Ali, in the town of al-Takiyah in Barada Valley, northwest of the Syrian capital, Damascus. The incident took place on March 26 eve.
Al-Sheikh Ali survived the attack despite sustaining some injures. He is reportedly receiving medical treatment in one of Damascus’ hospitals.
Earlier this month, a similar attack in Damascus claimed the life of Saleh Mohamad, a retired Syrian Arab Army (SAA) first warrant officer who served as a commander in the National Defense Forces (NDF) in the early years of the war.
No group has claimed responsibility for these attacks, so far. This style of attacks is similar to that of ISIS, al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the military wing of the Muslim Brotherhood Party.
These assassinations are clearly meant to disturb peace in the Syrian capital and terrorize government supporters living there.
What these attacks will do is make everyone work harder to quicken the elimination of all those who use bombs and assassinations to enforce their rule on civilians. Most of these terrorists have nowhere else to go, apart from the ICC. They should sing like canaries. Won’t that be interesting?
Thanks God he survived
God bless Syria
More like Syrians has done a lot wrong during time and Allah punish them hard.
Next might be an Ark:)
He did. That’s why your killing each other there
Prince Charles has a mild form of this virus and now poor old Boris seems to have a very very mild case as well. How convenient. Wonder if they were self inflicted.
bs Isis or HTS…….these (like the above mentioned Prior assassination of NDF member) are clear intelligence operations……….
And You are a doctor???
Home Syria Turkey transfers US-made air defense system to Idlib: report SyriaTurkey Turkey transfers US-made air defense system to Idlib: report By News Desk – almasdar News SAA 2020-03-27
BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:10 P.M.) – A Turkish Army convoy allegedly deployed a U.S.-made air defense system to the Idlib Governorate, Zaman Al-Wasl reported on Friday. Citing “military news sites”, the publication reported that Turkey deployed the U.S.-made MIM-23 HAWK medium-range surface-to-air system to the Idlib Governorate.
This new report comes a few weeks after photos of the Turkish military sending anti-aircraft missiles to the Idlib Governorate first surfaced via social media. Turkey established a de-facto no-fly-zone over the northwestern part of the Idlib Governorate last month, as their aircraft shot down at least three Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) jets that attempted to bomb areas near the Hatay Province’s border. As a result of this move, the Syrian Air Force refrained from targeting sites near the border, which later prompted the Russian military to increase their own strikes over this area.
The Hawk is like 1960’s technology. Replaced by the Patriot in most NATO armies in the 80’s. Again old NATO handmedowns. And knowing the Turks by now probably not upgraded one bit since they were handed down to them in the 1980’s.
syria has old soviet sam systems and they are quite effective.
American surface to air missiles have been duds for decades. The American emphasis is on air power projection by aircraft for offensive and defensive missions.
But they are Soviet… Proven tech since NAM.
Nike, Hawk and in that seize are well proven too.
In which war?
Yes, its about what You are up against.
True, but without the Russian radars and CCC systems coordinating them they would just be scrap metal. It’s the Russian air defense network they installed in Syria that makes these old systems effective. It’s up the Turks to show they have an equally good radar and CCC system to back up their old scrap metal. Considering how much they’ve neglected their tank and IFV/APC fleet I’m not so sure about that.
Well, they are just as good as the old Sams Syria has. They certainly are old.
True. But they at least have a top notch Russian radar and CCC system coordinating them. Amateurs think in individual weapon systems, professionals think in an overall integrated system for all these weapons. It’s not about the toys, it’s about how you use all your toys together.
Damascus is real close to Israel
Could also be MIT, or CIA.
Mossad…
You keep Your low level well. No one will blame You for findig oil.
