Separate clashes with fighters of the Yemeni Houthi movement in the southern border regions of Dhahran Janoub, Jizan and Asir claimed lives of five Saudi soldiers, the state-run SPA news agency reported on Wednesday, citing Yemen’s military officials.

According to Chief of the Jizan’s Border Guard, Major General Mahya al-Otaibi, a conscript Musa bin Mohammed Daeli lost his life in Dhahran al-Janoub region near the border with Yemen’s mountainous northwestern Saada province. Jizan police chief, Major General Nasser bin Saleh Aldojse, added that an officer Hamoud Mohammed Awaji was killed in the southern flank of Saudi Arabia. In addition, Saudi Minister of the National Guard, Mutaib bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, said that a heavy firefight in the town of al-Rabuah in the southwestern region of Asir critically wounded another soldier.

However, the Saudi officials did not provide any additional information about the time and circumstances surrounding of the killings.

The Okaz daily newspaper also reported about the death of an officer Ahmed bin Hassan Atif in the southern part of the kingdom. At the same time, according to the Akhbar 24 online newspaper, a soldier, identified as Ahmed Tohara, was killed during clashes on the southern border of Saudi Arabia with Yemen.

The events occurred after three Qatari soldiers, who fought on the side of the Saudi Army, were killed during retaliatory attacks by the Yemeni Forces on Monday night. There is no information about how or when they were killed, as well as no official comment was made by the country’s government.

Over the past few weeks, many Saudi soldiers and border guards have been killed during clashes with Yemeni soldiers and allied Ansarullah fighters.

Earlier this month, two Saudi soldiers were fatally shot by Yemeni snipers in al-Rabuah, as well as a Saudi military vehicle was hit with Yemeni guided missile at a camp in the same southwestern Saudi town.
