More than 5,000 people have so far joined the new reconciliation process in the eastern Syrian governorate of Deir Ezzor, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on November 21.

Syrian authorities launched the process exactly a week ago in coordination with local tribal leaders including Sheikh Nauaf al-Bashir, head of Al Baggara tribe and one of the most prominent leaders in eastern and northeastern Syria. A large reconciliation center was opened in Deir Ezzor city.

The reconciliation process provides a second chance to all civilians and military personnel wanted by the authorities for evading military service or deserting the ranks of the Syrian Arab Army.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who hold northeastern, eastern and southeastern Deir Ezzor, didn’t cooperate with the reconciliation process. The US-backed group warned its fighters as well as civilian workers in its administration against joining the process.

Despite the warning, many people travelled from SDF-held areas to Deir Ezzor city in order to join the reconciliation process.

According to the SANA, the reconciliation process, which is meant to further stabilize Deir Ezzor, will continue at least for the upcoming few days.

Yes but those people can’t be trusted, when its all over and streets are named after SAA heroes who when needed defended their Country, where will the cowards who deserted and the former terrorists be?
