7 Turkish Service Members Died In Clashes With Kurdish Forces. Prime Minister Vows Revenge

Khalil Ashawi / Reuters

Seven Turkish military service memers died in clashes with Kurdish YPG/YPJ forces and a Turkish battle tank was destroyed in Syria’s Afrin on February 3, the Turkish General Staff said in a statement.

According to the Turkish version, five soldiers died in near the settlement of Sheikh Haruz northeast of the YPG-held city of Afrin when Kurdish forces targeted a battle tank of the Turkish Armed Forces.

One more soldier died in clashes with Kurdish forces in the Afrin area. Anorher one was killed in the Turkish border province of Kilis.

It’s interesting to note that Turkey continues arguing that Turkish forces fight some misterious ISIS terrorists in the Afrin area. However, for all neutral observers it’s clear that there is no ISIS in Afrin.

Following the incident, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim vowed revenenge and said that the enemies of the Turkish government “will pay for this twice as much. We have given the necessary response instantly, and we continue to do so.”

Turkey also intensified its airstrikes on Kurdish positions and ammo depots in the Afrin area.

It’s a war you fucking imbeciles, you don’t vow for revenge for every loss you annoying wankers! lol See for Turkey this is just a media spectacle, making announcements all the time, posturing and shit. Imagine if every time a soldier died in WW2 (or any other war for that matter) the leaders would come up and yell “THEY WILL PAY FOR THIS” every time someone died lmao.

Potato Potato

Turkey expected Afrin to be a pushover. That they can just march into Afrin and be done with no losses.

Bob

They expected losses but among their expendable proxy TFSA irregular ranks – whereas they are domestically politically sensitive to significant TAF losses.

dutchnational

In a way like SDF forces to US, KRG in Iraq etc etc.

Bob

Fourth generation war – a foreign state locates and/or develops a non-state proxy force insides a targeted country and use them as cheap and expendable force to achieve strategic goals, with minimized political and economic costs to foreign state.

dutchnational

Seems Irael is taking an alternative way : they are going to build a drone army.

Bob

For all their bluster Israel is very vulnerable on manpower – they are small country with small population – they can’t sustain heavy combat losses and they won’t always be able to get US soldiers to die for them as in Iraq War 2.0. Hence their fixation on drone combatant concept.

Nigel Maund

The Prime Minister expected a war without any losses? Which planet does he live on? The much vaunted Turkish Army is displaying signs of lack of experience and adequate training. Moreover, and more dangerously, their political leaders are either niaive or in great need of a reality check. Vowing for revenge when you lose troops smacks of the Einsatzgruppen’s actions against partisans when the Nazi’s invaded Russia in 1941.

Ivanus59

Like Israel, their ego is insulted when the other side fights back. They prefer to kill the defenseless. Each time they lose they feel the urgent and impossible-to-resist need to come and tell us how they just killed a hundred enemies in return lol. When the tank was blown apart I really expected them to come out saying that the tank was only damaged and the crew survived and killed 50 enemies before running out of enemies to kill, then they went back for a short rest.

Potato Potato

“Technical failure” lmao.

Nigel Maund

Yes agreed! Pride comes before the fall and ego has destroyed many commanders. The fact is modern weapons like TOW missiles and MANPAD’s are force levellers and the CIA / US military fully undertsand that. The Germans destroyed many Soviet tanks at ranges down to 20m in WW2, including the most advanced T34 variants, with hand held Panzerfaust and Panzerschrecks. The Allies did the same with PIAT’s even against the vaunted Tiger PkwVI. So all armies are going to lose men even when dressed up in heavy kevlar body armor. Good snipers can take out any infantry with shots to the head, armpits and groin.

Ronald

This Turkish invasion of Syria is really just a training exercise for the army after Erdogan’s purges . Third largest army in the world needs offices with experience . Kurds will be only too happy to oblige . The talk-talk is just for the home media .

Nigel Maund

Ronald – very good points – thanks!

dutchnational

Help me through this : Largest armies of the world :

1 China 2,183,000 2 India 1,395,100 3 United States 1,347,300 4 North Korea 1,190,000 5 Russia 831,000 6 Pakistan 653,800 7 South Korea 630,000 8 Iran 523,000 9 Vietnam 482,000 10 Egypt 438,500 11 Myanmar 406,000 12 Indonesia 395,500 13 Thailand 360,850 14 Turkey 355,200 <= !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As seen in turk propaganda, counting is hard for turks.

Ronald

My apologies I did err , it is the second largest in NATO , at 639,550 armed forces , that’s from Wikipedia , with a total of 948,550 , including gendamene , police and village guards . Now they did have your number , 355,800 as military with 378,700 as reserves . In another location , wikipedia has there number at 512,000 troops , so probably closer to Iran . However the point I was trying to make was not how big they are , but how they need to re-establish an experienced officer corps after Erdogan’s purges .

Ronald

NATO counts their army at 743,415 , so counting seems to hard for all involved .

dutchnational

As far as having the need to reestablsh an experienced officer corps, on that point, given the atrocious performance on Afrin both a far as results are concerned and as far as discipline is concerned, there is a great need imo.

Toxicus Mechanicus

Turkish army has about 600-700k active members. Where do you get your info from? YPG Press Office?

dutchnational

just google, largest armies of rhe world.

Even at 600k it would only be the 8th army of the world.

Toxicus Mechanicus

So?

Toxicus Mechanicus

lol it’s not much of an achievement,I mean penetrating a 45mm armor sloped at 48 degree with a panzerscrecks which had 170-230mm penetration at the time.

Nigel Maund

Oh Yeah? …. you try standing 20m from a T34 tank with infantry support and shooting of your panzerfaust. You may be feeling a trifle scared?

Toxicus Mechanicus

It would be fun

Nigel Maund

Sooner you than me! LOL

FlorianGeyer

” The Prime Minister expected a war without any losses? Which planet does he live on? ”

I seem to remember a similar crass statement by the UK Minister of Defence and the Prime minister of the time, Gordon Brown I think, when the UK sent troops to Afghanistan again.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1111702/John-shot-fired-Reids-50-000-Iraq-security-job.html

Nigel Maund

FG agreed! Normal hogwash from the corrupt Bristish political class whose only objectives are to make money from lucrative post political employment using their contacts and inside Government knowledge. They could not give a damn for the “squaddies” or “grunts” as the USMC calls them; they’re expendable cannon fodder whose deaths are annually given parades and flowers for the media to “glam up” to appease the grieving masses in yet another useless conflict.

Yui2

“Twice as much” – you heard it, everybody, Turkey is about to kill 14 Kurds!

as

Bets are off if they failed to achieve less than 14.

dutchnational

SDF killed another 5 to 7 already today and who knows maybe more into the night.

Turkish lossess are now mounting rapidly. Nobody knows how many have been killed on all sides, the fog of disinformation and propaganda is too thick, for me at least.

Camilla

gs1710

ther is no reason for revenge. This is only defense. The best way, to avoid losses, is not to attack other countries….

Störtebembel

Sure the is a lot of Daesh in Afrin now. It is simply in the ranks of the türkish alllies.

mhtsaropinigitakis

i hope this is only the start…Turks must retun all dead in trucks!!

Skagos

Comment section is as toxic ans full of ignorants as twitch.tv’s chats.

Hornet24

Turks are attackers at this battle …. Then why they call for revenge? :D

as

Copy their NATO big brothers.

dutchnational

Turkish logic : they commit a crime, it is revenge. Kurds defend themselves, that is a crime too. A crime against the “just” turkish invaders.

Tarum Koch

Dutch National, reveal yourself; You are conniving imbecile. You are PKK militant in Holland. The TAF soldiers have mercy otherwise, you will be crying like little dog chased by Wolf. When did the YPG/PKK has a right to settle in Afrin, before they kick every original dwellers in Afrin heh? If you kick someone out of their home then you will be kicked out equally too. Just to let you know PKK/YPG is no right to claim that they are representing Kurds, you are not you are forcing them. I know what they do in Europe and elsewhere.

dutchnational

I see you read erdodoggy propaganda.

Official Syrian statistics of 2004: over 90% of Afrin area kurdish. Statistics from the Syria ARAB Republic are prone to understate kurdish numbers, not to overstate kurdish numbers.

As everybody knows this, this makes you just a troll.

You are exposed, naked, in the light of your own lies.

As far as kicking goes, your rather feeble army already lost two more tanks and several vilages even before mid afternoon.

Your feeble army is the laughing stock of the world, all bluster and no results.

Oh yes, you are reponsable for mutilating the body of a dead female fighter, bullying kids to recite jihadi slogans, destroying a lquor store and killing over a hundred civilians, incl many woman and children.

Great results and giving a good showing of the capabilities of turks.

Disgusting, really.

Davki

Since when do governments use such language? This sounds like backyard thugs threatening other gangsters. Pathetic.

FlorianGeyer

Erdogan uses language like that all the time Davki. :) Trump does as well :)

George King

The list is long of enemies of a nation’s Treasure, Commons and Inalienable Rights.

Hilary Clinton belongs on that long list, remembering the killer’s performance, with gleeful laughter, on CBS “News”: “We came, we saw, he died”, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

FlorianGeyer

I remember it well and am still stunned George. She sounded like a Disney Witch :)

dutchnational

Erdogan and Trump both are proletes and vulgar too.

World_Eye

Oh stupid Erdogan what did you think was this going to be, a walk in the part run and shoot and kill all, you are far from your ottoman empire shit, you will lose soldiers and tanks and a lot of shit, such a small force as the Kurd’s there with not much, not tanks no jets, only ak’s and atgm’s are hammering you so much, and you thought this will be go in and kill everyone, oh you poor idiot this will be long and bloody war, when you really going to start counting body bags then you will realize that this is not a game, that this is not just walking in Idlib and handing over weapons, that this is a War, you want to kill but to preserve the life of your soldiers, while the Kurd’s are defending that place with their lives, well Erdogan you are in deep shit. everyday your TAF’s will die and your HTS proxies will die too. Bloody War.

Tarum Koch

They could have carpet bombed the whole Afrin, and then they could have walked in the Park! Didn’t they – You Idiot! What about the innocent people among the PKK/YPG Villains. They have pulled up their women clothing then escape from the crime scene. They Conniving Bastards.

Störtebembel

Screw you, faschist bastard. Your, your Führer and his followers will get what they deserve. Look what have happend to the Tausendjähriges Reich, it just lasted 12 years, after all 988 years less than they told their followers. ;-)

R3mba

fuck you and your cock sucking turks.. I hope russia nuke you..

Igor Dano

Turkish army with their (unlimited) resources should be after 2 weeks of fighting on the south border of Sytia. I do not understand, that they are less, than 2 km from the border (according to the maps around Afrin)

Tarum Koch

Dear Igor Dano, You are right mate, but they don’t want to kill Innocent people, Women, Elderly, Children on your way. You can kill all and it takes 2 days all the way to Saudi border, but if you kill innocent people deliberately or mistakenly you remember whole your life until dead comes upon you if you don’t suicide. Those PKK/YPG Bastards know the Turks very well, The Merciful soldiers always win – Even it doesn’t matter to get killed yourself. That’s the mentality.

Tarum Koch

Most of the commentators are supporting under dogs, The Turks have a mercy otherwise the Afrin could have been vanished over a night, carpet bombing – but no way the Turks can not do that, kill only those PKK/PYD Bastards, not the innocent people that’s why TAF lost 6 dearest Soldiers. but one thing you should consider that the Afrin once was full of Arab, Turkmen, Kurd etc. So the Arabs are right to take over Afrin again by TAF help, so Turkey has to stop refugee flooding from Syria as she hosts 3-5 million currently. When the PYD/YPG which is offshoot of PKK have established a Drug Cartel in Afrin, as you can follow the news sources from every one then you can come to conclusion. The West has been flooded with %90 Drugs by PKK/YPG – you can see them in Amsterdam, Brussel, London, Paris, Berlin etc. It is not my child is going to get poisoned by Drugs, your children will be poisoned. Day after day YPG/PKK are targeting indiscriminately Turkish border villages/towns etc. Turks aim to clear the area from those Drug Cartels to settle original dwellers of Afrin, Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds etc. The majority Turks are not against the Kurds but PKK/YPG/PYD. they are conniving people, the Kurds are suffering in the hand of PKK/PYD/YPG villains in Europe, Look at the killing and burning down shops, kebab shops in UK, European area. They are Marxist, Leninist, ignorant, Mafya etc, How they can represent the Kurds.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Well not according to a Turkish commander who says the TFSA/FSA are committing war crimes and don’t distinguish between civilians or children. He also says he now himself has become a terrorist, he has witnessed much as he says they give the homes to members of ISIS families.

Seems Turkish officers are getting a taste of their government’s war , not even supported by the majority of Turks, Erdogan had 19% of the votes because of screwed up election laws the losers votes got to the winner, sad policy.

Turkish re just as culpable as being drug dealers and smuggling so please don’t insult everyone as these issues were already present under CIA’s watchful eye. Look at how those in Turkey aided and abetted in war crimes in Former Yugoslavia. Everything you said sounds so similar to some Turks and others in Europe. So stop blaming it on one group as there are more than one group doing it.

Tarum Koch

Mate! Every now and then there are a lot operation against ISIS in the Country, They have tried this ISIS bullshit before to embroil Turkey into shithole and all fail, but they are keep trying. Hundreds of lorry full arms sent to YPG/PKK by American, you know what i sthat for? 2. Your statistic is not right that the Majority of Public are wholly behind the operation currently. You have no evidence that Erdogan has screwed up election Law etc. As you just said; don’t insult everyone, but you are slandering Erdogan right now. I am not insulting, I am telling what I saw.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Haven’t seen any big supplies going their such a weapons in the region, but have seen in the US controlled area , you are being dishonest North East is not North west Syria. Facts about the election system are true can’t wave that away easily. Erdogan slanders everyone and the belief that the Majority of Turks is with him is truly naive, most don’t agree with the invasion of another country on false pretenses. You went very far overboard in being false about everything, so that is an affront and an insult to everyone’s intelligence.

Where do you come from now? Have it become too cold in Erdogans toches? Your over 700 rockets from Afrin to Turkey are ill fantasies of AKP/MHP faschists, the few that hit now are being fired by your al-scum or al-sick or somer other al-bastards under supervision of MIT. Tell your fairy tails to simple minded turkish nationalists, no one else will belive them. Biji Rojava! Tiocfaidh ár lá!

Hide Behind

Politicians do not war, they pay others to war. The payments do not come from their pockets, instead their pockets are paid from arms and munition and those who will steal the resources of conquered lands. A war is easy to start but damned hard to halt. Those who are victorious look at their New found wealth that they never fought or worked for, and go looking for even more wars for others to fight. The glory of victors is from the gore they caused, not of the cause. Warriors receive praises and pats on back, a public far from war at work sjower them with parades and flowers and find pride in their loss of limbs, along with numbers of those they have killed. Such it has been since men first found sticks and stones ended any arguments, and elevated Kings, Queens, Presidents, or Dictators to lead them. The bakers, tin smiths, auto and farm workers join in patriotic fervor to go kill bakers, tin workers, auto and farm workers they have never met, and in each nation mothers raise more bakers, tin makers, auto and farm workers to become more soldiers.

Rodney Loder

So give glory to Allah when you reach eventide and when you rise in the morning; Yea to Him be praise, in the heavens and on the earth; and in the late afternoon and when the day begins to decline. It is He who brings out the living from the dead, and brings out the dead from the living, and Who gives life to the earth after it is dead: and thus shall ye be brought out from the dead.

Kira Binkley

Chapter and verse, Rodney?

Rodney Loder

Sedition ainta-what ita use to be, I was just started reading about this dust storn in Oklahoma, I’m not surprised your parents wanted to leave there, the Great Divorce by CS Lewis is pure speculation about after life itself, interconnection, it could be the continuum that the Prophet (pbuH) often spoke about but I found inconsistencies in the approach, which are not evident with my understanding of your perspective, onaupon everything, is there a vacant space just close by, infront of your feet, or is someone else sitting there, I often wonder to myself, because ia really do need to do some learning bad.

Kira Binkley

I can safely say that no human can know anything about the afterlife, except that there is one. Our minds are simply incapable of comprehension.

Rodney Loder

You only feel safe because your far away, if you were near me I could convince you of truthfulness regarding the beginning, nothing to do with biological practice, so exactly “who made God /Allah is easy for me, due to my informants in the after-life, they don’t know either, unless I tells them and then they don’t believe me, so I gave up on that, but your different, I will reveal everything, but first you have to cry about the distance between us , now this dealer offered me this really great deal on Suzuki RD 650 the deal terminates Friday week, the 16th.

It’s learner suitable, to get your license you would have to do two days training then can ride this particular machine on the road with L’s are you interested ?.

Kira Binkley

“…if you were near me I could convince you of truthfulness regarding the beginning, nothing to do with biological practice…”

I bet. Westerners have a saying: Would you like to come up and see my etchings? said the young man to the young woman.

Go here:

http://www.macmillandictionaryblog.com/has-anyone-seen-my-etchings

Rodney Loder

OK I will and will back to you. But I don’t think that it’s fair to make light of serious artists. l certainly wouldn’t want to act improperly with you if you ever gave me the chance, I just wouldn’t.

Rodney Loder

Can’t get there, you have to come here, please.

Kira Binkley

You want to kneel at my feet? Sounds romantic, Rodney. Next you can brush my hair.

Rodney Loder

Yep !! IveI got the perfect mirror to do that in front of, with folding sides, I got it when I was tree lopping and rubbish dumping on the side, most of my furniture is things that people threw out because they had nowhere to store them, I had a bulldozer once and I’d just dig a hole and bury heaps of rubbish, to save going to the tip, which costs a fortune, all the good stuff I kept.

This is a really good mirror, I have thought about brushing your hair hair often, but really I want to be pillion when you’re riding, I promise to keep my hands in place.

Kira Binkley

“…thus shall you be brought out from the dead…” So shall your spirit live, or survive, just as Allah brings life back to the earth.

Rodney Loder

Bad sort of, is what I should have said, bad becomes good after the rain, sounds like a jazz arrangement, if only I had my damned saxophone quartet still going I could describe it better.

Allah brings life to the Earth like that but also it could mean in a new Universe, because I think there can only be one determination of our Universal Destiny otherwise each person would be setting the pattern for all afterlife events, infinite universes is Polytheism.

I might take all this to Steemit and get some Cripto, what do you think?.

Kira Binkley

What do I think? I have no idea what you just said, actually…

Rodney Loder

That’s because there is a delay in our discussion, I only just got your reply on my apparatus this afternoon, so it’s probably too late to explain my supposition, hope you’re having a good night because I had a good day, I think about you all the time, thoughts are the best company..

Kira Binkley

A delay? Caused by the time lag, I believe.

Rodney Loder

Sometimes I get messages straight away like this one, and thank you for posting me, the horrible people will take a tumble because of it, I am deeply in your debt, if I ever could sit at your feet I gladly would, actually it’s grape season now, I have a tried all types of vines the best one that I net the birds off from, is a backyard variety, that came over with the first fleet, I got it tree lopping, I eat them virtually all day till I can’t stand them any more till next year, why this is significant is because I keep having this vision of sitting at your feet while you’re eating grapes.

Kira Binkley

Like Ahab the Arab?

Rodney Loder

I was thinking more along the lines of the Roman / Byzantine emperors in this particular çase Queen Zenobia who became one sort of, but I have got to be careful what I say, you once accused me of implying something awful by my bad taste of mirth, but after consideration I have to say all the same I am yours to command.

Here’s something interesting from Gibbon.

Returning from his conquest in the East, Aurelian had already crossed the strengths that divide Europe from Asia, when he was provoked by the intelligence that the Palmyrenians had massaccre the governor of the Garrison which he had left among them, and again erected the standard of Revolt. Without a moment of hesitation he once again turned his face towards Syria. Antioch was alarmed by his rapid approach, and the helpless city of Palmyra felt the irresistible weight of of his presentment. We have a letter from Aurelian himself, in which he acknowledges, that old men, women, children, and peasants, had been involved in the dreadful execution, which should have been confined to armed rebellion; and although his principal concern seems to be directed at the temple of the Sun, he discovers some pity for the remnant of the Palmyrenians, to whom he grants rebuilding and inhabiting their city. But it is easier to destroy that restore. The seat of Commerce, of Arts, and of Zenobia, gradually sunk into an obscure town, a trifling fortress, and at length a miserable village. The present Citizens of Palmyra, consisting of thirty or forty families, had erected their mud cottages within the spacious Court of a magnificent temple.
