70000 refugees may be trapped inside Greece next month: Greek Minister

According to the Greek immigration minister, the number of refugees trapped in his country may triple next month and reach 70,000.

“We estimate that in our country the number of those trapped will be from 50,000-70,000 people next month,” Yiannis Mouzalas said on Sunday, adding that currently there are 22,000 refugees in Greece.

On Sunday, the Balkan state has introduced a daily cap of 300 refugees while more than 6,500 people were at the Idomeni camp near Greece-Macedonia border.

Last week Macedonian border officials refused to accept Afghan refugees and applied stricter methods to check Syrian and Iraqi documents, since then the number of refugees has increased at the camp.

It is also reported by local TV media today that a horde of refugees has broken a barbed-wire fence with steel pole as a battering ram on the Macedonia-Greece border.

However, Austria and Balkan nations agreed to restrict numbers, while Hungary plans to hold a referendum on the EU refugee quota.  Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia imposed a limit of 580 refugees entering their country every day.

The EU ministers agreed to relocate 120,000 refugees from Italy, Greece and Hungary to other EU countries in last September although Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary have been opposing the quota system.

Already, the Europe is facing an unprecedented influx of refugees who fled from the war zones in Africa and the Middle East, particularly Syria.

Although, there is a strong accusation against the west of fostering terrorism in the Middle East, which is being considered as the main reason behind the departure of refugees from their home countries.

They have to defend the borders with the guns, if we do not wish ISIL in EU. Turn them away. Protect the borders, like Israel does: MGs and shoot-to-kill order for everybody, who violates the border line.
