About 9,000 al-Qaeda linked militants (members of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham) are attempting to take control over the Syrian province of Idlib, Colonel General Igor Korobov, chief of the Russian General Staff’s Main Directorate, announced on Friday.
“The total number of Nusra Front militants [an old brand of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham] in northwestern Idlib stands at 9,000 people. Currently, terrorists are trying to take control over the whole of its territory by intensifying combat actions against the moderate opposition groups,” Korobov said at the Army-2017 forum, according to the Russian state-run media.
Korobov emphasized that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham is the second most powerful terrorist group in Syria. It includes more than 15,000 members, most of whom are Syrians.
Earler this week, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham assisted ISIS in its attack against government forces in the eastern Hama countryside. ISIS and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham united efforts in an attempt to cut off the the Salamiyah-Ithriyah-Khanassir-Aleppo road, the only government supply line to Aleppo city. However, terrorists failed to achieve their goal.
15.000 members? I think they are undervalued. They are able to do offensives ith 10.000 members while covering the borders.

Try not to think the numbers told by the Media are correct remember fighting age is only considered, you are only looking at hundreds not thousands especially those who came from recently and many have been executed since. There is a reason why they are being executed by HTS they would eventually cause a power struggle, since they are more senior in leadership.
They rely heavily on their affiliates in the Muslim Brotherhood and HTS are grossly over estimated in numbers the other Daesh groups numbers is what your thinking about as HTS state it is only alliances. HTS(Daesh) and FSA(Daesh) were able to make joint attacks together recently and that still left them weakened and they all had a working agreement coordinated by the US/Israel/Turkey advisers and backed by CENTCOM.
Could be a good development. When there is only Nusra and Isis left Turkey, US, SA, Israel , UK, France etc loose there excuse to support the ‘moderate oppposition’ against Assad cs. After cleaning east Hama pocket by SAA the road to aleppo will be safe. After smashing IS in Deir Ez Zor and Euphrate towns the rats in Idlibistan , Homs pocket and east ghouta can be terminated
but also americans can enter idlib ;)
