Pokrovsk Sector
Main combat operations are ongoing on the northern outskirts of Pokrovsk. The suburban area of Dinas has fallen under the control of Russian forces. Russian forces advancing towards the village of Rivne have tightened the squeeze on Ukrainian units by Rodynske area.
Russian «Centre» units continue to fight in the northwestern part of Pokrovsk, near the «8th Group», where Ukrainian forces are carrying out counterattacks. To the north, units advancing from Rodynske and Krasnyi Lyman have advanced approximately 5 km along the Rodynske-Pokrovsk road. Reports indicate the capture of two farms along the road to Hrishyne, with ongoing fighting for a third farm closest to the settlement.
In the area between Zaporizkyi Khutir and the mobile hospital, Ukrainian forces continue to hold a strongpoint to the north of the cemetery, where the width of the corridor is approximately 700 metres. To the east of the feed mill, Russian forces have taken control of the southern part of Tereshkova Street in the western part of the village of Rivne, and are launching an attack from the north.
Fighting continues around the Machine-Building Plant and the Meat Processing Plant on the eastern outskirts of Pokrovsk, as well as along the railway line near the villages of Roh and Hnativka.

In Yampil, Ukrainian forces advanced towards the western outskirts from the centre of the settlement, took control of the road and joined up with their units in the northeast.
Zaporizhzhia Sector
Units of the Russian «East» grouping are continuing to advance westwards. It is reported that the 37th Motorised Rifle Brigade has taken control of the village of Rybne and secured an area of over two square kilometres. This will enable the Russian Armed Forces to launch attacks on Sladke and then Dobropillia, bypassing the main Ukrainian defensive lines. In light of this development, the Ukrainian authorities have expanded the mandatory evacuation zone.
Units have crossed the Yanchur River and gained a foothold on its western bank, establishing a bridgehead on the border between the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts. According to sources, current weather conditions are hindering the operation of unmanned aerial systems.
Sumy Sector
Positional battles are ongoing in the Sumy sector. Clear weather enables the effective deployment of UAVs, which complicates assault operations.
According to reports, the «Arey» assault battalion of the 129th Separate Territorial Defence Brigade has been returned to Sumy Oblast after restoring its combat capability. The 253rd Separate Assault Battalion «Arey» previously suffered significant losses during hostilities in the Kursk Oblast.
In the Andriivka and Oleksiivka areas, two attempts by the Ukrainian 158th Separate Mechanised Brigade and 225th Separate Assault Regiment assault groups to advance were thwarted by fire.
Kharkiv Sector
Intense fighting continues in Vovchansk and the surrounding area. Russian assault units are advancing through the southern part of the city and nearby wooded areas, supported by air and artillery.
On the left bank of the Vovcha River, units have occupied and cleared approximately 30 buildings in Vovchansk. It is reported that six servicemen from the Ukrainian 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade have been captured. The total advance was up to 450 metres.
In the forested area near Synelnykove, units have occupied one position and advanced 200 metres. In the Melove-Khatne sector, the expansion of the control zone in the border area continues. The advance over the past day has been up to 900 metres.
Kupyansk Sector
The situation in the Kupyansk area remains tense. According to Russian sources, Ukrainian units attempted to break through to Kupyansk and the Oskil River again today in an attempt to relieve the encircled units. Another crossing over the Oskil River in the Petrivka area was destroyed during the repulsion of these attempts.
Assault detachments from the 6th Combined Arms Army and the 1st Tank Army continue to operate in the Kupyansk area. Reports state that six attacks by units of the Ukrainian 151st and 116th Mechanised Brigades and the 1st and 13th National Guard Brigades were repelled in the areas of Monachynivka, Nechvolodivka, Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi, Osynove and Petrivka.
Reports state that up to 50 Ukrainian servicemen were killed in the Kupyansk area today, alongside the destruction of two ‘Kozak’ armoured combat vehicles, one US-made «Paladin» self-propelled artillery unit, five pickup trucks and two electronic warfare stations. It is also reported that 16 «Baba Yaga»-type hexacopters attempting to deliver supplies to the encircled units were shot down.
Conclusion
As of November 9, the operational situation on the main fronts is characterised by continued high-intensity hostilities. In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian units in the Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad areas are facing significant complications, as Russian units are advancing systematically and threatening to completely encircle the area. In the Krasnyi Lyman and Zaporizhzhia sectors, offensive operations are ongoing, involving the establishment of new bridgeheads and the expansion of control zones. In the Sumy and Kharkiv sectors, combat is predominantly positional in nature, with Russian units making local advances. In the Kupyansk area, Ukrainian attempts to relieve the encircled units have so far yielded no significant results. Overall, the dynamics indicate that Russian units retain the initiative on most fronts despite organised resistance from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Against the backdrop of ongoing hostilities, new factors affecting the logistics of military supply have emerged. According to Axios, the United States has suspended shipments of weapons to NATO allies worth over five billion dollars due to the federal government shutdown. The affected supplies include AMRAAM missiles, Aegis systems and HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems intended for Poland, Denmark and Croatia. As supplies to NATO allies are often redirected to support Ukraine through the PURL programme, this suspension could hinder the replenishment of material and technical resources for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the medium term.
The US government shutdown, now the longest in the country’s history, has created additional challenges in ensuring continuity of military support. While the first PRAW aid packages have already been delivered to Ukraine, the current delay highlights the dependence of supply chains on political stability in the United States. This is happening against the backdrop of ongoing discussions in the EU about deploying military trainers to Ukraine only once the conflict has ended, creating a complex situation for planning further military support for Kyiv.
