Yesterday, ISIS released a new propaganda video from the Iraqi city of Mosul city. The video is presented by ISIS foreign fighters from France, USA and Russia, and provides a look at the battle for Mosul from the ISIS side. However, the most important part was the unveiling of some of ISIS self-made weapons and ISIS weapons workshops.

One of the most interesting weapons revealed in the video is the famous ISIS DIY rocket launcher actively used during Mosul battle.
In the video, we can see that the rocket container is made of aluminum. There are at least 4 types of the rocket launcher, including High Explosive and Anti Armor versions.

It’s believed that these rocket launchers use rounds from PG-9\OG-9 family designed for SPG-9 Recoilless Rifle. Some variants of the launcher may contain rounds from the PG-15\OG-15 family designed for the 2A28 Grom smoothbore semi-automatic gun (used in the BMP-1 vehicle).
Another option might be the soviet-made S-5 air-to-ground unguided rocket. ISIS captured many S-5 rockets in the Menagh Military Airbase, the Jirah Military Airbase and the Tabqah Military Airbase in Syria in 2013-2014.
Another surprise from the video was to find out that ISIS is making DIY copies of the SPG-9 Recoilless Rifle and the RPG-7 launcher.

In the video ISIS showed how its members reactivate old SA-7 man-portable air-defense systems to use them against Iraqi Air Force helicopters and US-led collation UAVs. ISIS militants have attached the missile to an external battery, a technique used before by HAMAS in Gaza.

It’s believed that an Iraqi Helicopter was shot down last month by ISIS over Mosul using this kind of weapon.

The ISIS also showed a remote controlled weapon station (RCWS) made from what appears to be a modified Chinese W-85 HMG (with a muzzle similar to the one in Steyr HS .50 sniper rifle). The ISIS RCWS is equipped with a CCD camera and what appears to be two InfraRed lights giving it night vision capability.

Another DIY weapon made by ISIS is unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) armed with a an anti-tank mine (likely from the soviet TM anti-tank mine family), an old technique used in the WW II and proven to be unpractical.

The video showed a slightly big DIY remotely controlled suicide UAV (with man in the loop control). It was used by ISIS to target a gathering of Iraqi fighters outside of Mosul.

The video release includes moments of the ISIS VBIED attacks against the Iraqi Army in Mosul. It also allows to see how ISIS use drones to spot an Iraqi army position than guide a VBIED driver toward it from the safest road and for sure to video type the whole attack to use it later in propaganda.

The video is another confirmation that ISIS is still a major threat to security in the Middle Eastern region and around the world. The group is being able to develop or manufacture self-made weapons using available materials.
In the video, ISIS also called on its supporters in world to carry out attacks against “unbelievers” wherever they are.

Most ISIS probably die knowing that they will be tortured or denied medical care if captured. A lot of people have concerns over getting their head cut off or wounded. However bleeding to death usually is not too painful unless you get shot in the gut which I heard really hurts. So ISIS defenders that bleed to death save themselves the pain of torture. I feel most sorry for Iraqi attackers. Most of the Shia who are killed bleed to death while wishing they were home with friends and family .Both sides should try to behave in a more humane compassionate way but that likely will not happen . Its really sad.
