Fantastic coverage of current affairs tension, crisis and concern… Why doesn’t SF make it more clear that it makes more money from people looking at the video’s on the website as opposed to YouTube? Personally I prefer viewing SF content through YouTube upon my smart TV, (seems faster streaming) but as I understand it, SF makes less monetization that way, so why not have a featured article in two parts, Part A on YouTube and a Part B/Additional Analysis upon the website to anything put onto the YouTube site and app?
Greetings, Dick Von DastArd, First of all, thank you for the warm words. SouthFront is a crowdfunded, largely volunteer endeavour. We believe that not only well-paid “professional journalists”, but common people with inquisitive minds are able to produce balanced content in a modern information-oriented society. This is why we dissiminate content for free (no pay-walls) and employ a wide range of platforms (southfront.org, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter etc) to reach our friends, readers and supporters. Regarding your comment about “monetization”, SouthFront has little ADs on both YouTube and the website (in comparison with mainstream media outlets). So, there is little difference from this perspective. Nonetheless, you are right that SouthFront provides an additional coverage, maps and text analyses on southfront.org for people who like this.
