On Friday, a carrier battle group of the Russian Navy, headed by the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft cruiser, has entered the English Channel during its way to the Atlantic, the BBC news agency reported.
Currently, the group of ships is going along the south coast of England under a close supervision of NATO ships.
At the approach of the Russian naval group to the English Channel, a helicopter with a shooting team of BBC had approached to the Admiral Kuznetsov in order to prepare reportage. A published video, which was taken from a long distance for reasons of safety, shows two fighter jets, which stand on the deck of the aircraft carrier.
At the moment, the British HMS Duncan air-defense destroyer and the HMS Richmond frigate of the British Royal Navy, as well as the HNLMS Evertsen frigate of the Royal Netherlands Navy and the Leopold I frigate of the Marine Component of the Belgian Armed Forces are monitoring the movement of the Russian ships.
Another British air-defense destroyer, the HMS Dragon, will wait the Zeleny Dol and the Serpukhov corvettes, equipped with the Caliber-NK cruise missiles, to the south of the UK. The ships, coming from the Mediterranean, will unite with the carrier battle group of the Admiral Kuznetsov.
The American F-15 fighter jets, based in the UK, were also spotted in the sky in the area of the English Channel. The British Typhoon aircraft at air bases in the south of England are also ready to fly.
On Saturday, October 15, the carrier battle group of the Russian Northern Fleet began its campaign in the north-eastern areas of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea. The group includes the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft cruiser, the Pyotr Velikiy nuclear-powered battle cruiser, the Severomorsk and the Vice Admiral Kulakov large antisubmarine ships, as well as support vessels.
In the middle of this week, the carrier battle group conducted flight exercises over international waters of the Atlantic near the south-western part of Norway.

There was an article months back that the Mig-29K was going to be finally deployed on the Kuznetzov. That didn’t happen. Did the Migs have another setback?
Su-33 is superior.
su-33 mission is to defend the carrier grouping. it has secondary air to ground capability but the Mig-29K is much better in that sense, it’s like a F-18C or E. Also, if the carrier goes to the med to participate in the syrian operation, it must have some bombers aboard. Otherwise, we are probably witnessing something different, although i won’t elaborate on this.
I am sure they will arrange a full board after it has arrived at Tartous or wherever. This should be fun.
MiG-29K have been deployed on the K, but they are multirole fighters and will be used for strike purposes. The Su-33 are dedicated air superiority and will be on the flight deck until the K is on station and begins strike operations against the foat-guckers.
