Despite the ongoing peace talks, Taliban fighters continue to launch attacks against government forces in different parts of Afghanistan.

On November 7 and 8, four security forces members were killed and six others were wounded in two separate attacks by the Taliban in the northern province of Baghlan.

Security sources told TOLOnews that Taliban fighters attacked military positions in the districts of Baghlan-e-Markazi and Nahrin as well as on the outskirts of Pul-e-Khumri city, the center of Baghlan province. During the attack in Nahrin, Taliban fighters blocked a highway leading to the center of Baghlan province.

Taliban sustained losses in the attacks. At least ten fighters of the group were killed or injured by government forces, according to a local army commander.

A recent report by the U.S. Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction revealed that Taliban’s violence increased by 50% in Afghanistan during August, September and November. The group’s activities pose a serious threat to the fragile peace process in the war-torn country.
