Afghan forces liberated Kunduz-Takhar highway from Taliban

According to local officials, the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) inflicted heavy casualties on Taliban militants during a military operation, leading to the re-opening of Kunduz-Takhar highway.

“The operation was launched late on Friday night in parts of Kunduz province, near the main highway connecting Kunduz and Northeastern Takhar province,” provincial Police Chief Mohammad Qasim Jangalbagh told Khaama press, adding, “At least 20 Taliban insurgents were killed and 6 others were wounded during the operation.”

“The clearance operations are currently underway in certain villages and parts of Kunduz which threaten the main highway,” the officials added.

However, the Taliban militants have intensified their attacks across the country recently,  when they started their so-called annual spring offensive code name “Operation Omari.”

After the United States and its allies attacked the country as part of Washington’s so-called war on terror, Afghanistan has been gripped by terror for more than 14 years. Although the 2001 attack overthrew the Taliban, still it poses a significant security.
