African Countries On Lookout For "Peace" And Money

The beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict has greatly changed the situation in the world for 2022-2023. Many countries around the world that are allies of the United States have effectively severed both diplomatic and economic relations with Russia, the world’s largest country by territory.

The main problem has been the change in energy and food supply channels. After the rejection of cheap Russian fuel, European economies were subjected to sharp inflation. The living standards of the population plummeted, which even caused several riots in European countries. The rejection of everything Russian in general is perceived in many countries of the world extremely negatively.

Supplies of arms and ammunition to Ukraine only aggravate the conflict and prolong the global crisis. And it is not only Ukraine and Russia, as the directly warring parties, that are suffering, but also all other countries of the world.

Against this background, the situation in Africa is strikingly different from the global situation. Despite the presence of pro-Western propaganda due to the English-speaking nature of many countries on the continent, in general the leadership and population of African countries are in favor of expanding relations with Russia. Countries such as Algeria, Egypt, Ghana, and South Africa have already taken various steps toward rapprochement with Moscow, both diplomatically and economically. Other African countries are also eager to expand cooperation with Russia.

Other African countries are also determined to expand cooperation with Russia. The main issue for them now is food supply, as the West has effectively taken over the Ukrainian grain supplied to the poorest countries under the Grain Deal, and it is important for them to contract directly with Russia.

To this end, Moscow has organized a Russia-Africa forum on its territory for business contacts with each other. In addition, many countries have confirmed their participation in the summit organized within the forum. The continent’s delegations are represented by top officials (presidents and heads of government).

The biggest question is how productive this event will turn out to be.
