The Ansar Allah movement (more widely known as the Houthis) has been preparing to an advance in the city of Marib, the capital of Yemen’s Marib province. Recently, Houthis have deployed additional reinforcements to the western countryside of the city, which remains in the hands of Saudi-backed forces, and are now working on securing the road toward Marib.
In own turn, Saudi-led forces tried to take back the strategic Maas base from the Houthis, but their attacks were repelled. Warplanes of the Saudi-led coalition are actively employed on the battlefield. However, the Houthis have much better infantry units and widely employ drones and ballistic missiles co compensate the lack ofthe air power. Thus, if the situation develops in the current direction and further, it is likely that the Houthis will be able to besiege Marib and even capture the city in the coming months.
A brief overview of the developments in the area:
- On November 28, clashes between Ansar Allah and Saudi-led forces continued near Wadi Maas;
- On November 27, Ansar Allah repelled an attack by Saudi-led forces on Qarn Adwan north of Asdas;
- On November 27, Ansar Allah was deploying troops and equipment east of Sarwah and Madghal to prepare for an offensive west of Marib city;
- On November 27, Saudi-led coalition warplanes bombed Madghal district 16 times;
- On November 27, Saudi-led coalition warplanes bombed Sarwah district 10 times.
Saudisis spent hundreds of $billions on state of the art weapons systems, they have U.S., UK sat intel and air dominance yet Houthis are still mopping the floor with them lol, its Vietnam 2.0.

In 2015 the very day the Barbarian headchopper regime invaded Yemen I had written an article predicting that the Houthis would wipe the floor with them. I got some particulars wrong: I had taken it for granted that they would at least be able to capture Sana’a. That’s right, I overestimated the capabilities of the repulsive royal reprobate regime in Riyadh.

Houthis know the Saudis well, if the Saudis have to choose between using their air force to do revenge attacks on Yemeni civilians for Yemeni missile strikes or assisting their mercs in the field of battle, they will choose the first option.
Trouble is that they’re running out of mercs, Chris. I think the Sudanese mostly bailed out on them and the Yemeni Hadi loyalists just surrender and switch sides when the Houthis show up.
Incompetent Saudis, in every video I see they just surrender and give away their positions and equipment to the enemy. The only Arab country which I respect the most is Egypt, maybe they can teach them how to fight.
Surprising to hear anyone say that. I never thought of the Egyptian Army as anything but unmotivated conscripts run by pompous career officers. That was the Soviet-era army seemed like to me – did they really change that much? I guess if you limit the comparison to ‘Arab countries’, then the bar is pretty low.
