On February 11, the Ahrar al-Sham Movement and several groups of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) repelled an attack by the ISIS-affiliated Jaysh Khalid ibn al-Walid on their positions in the village of Hayt in the western Daraa countryside after two days of clashes there, according to Syrian opposition sources.
Members of the Ahrar al-Sham Movement and the FSA reportedly killed several fighters and destroyed many vehicles of Jaysh Khalid ibn al-Walid while they were repelling the attack on Hayt. The opposition fighters also shelled several positions of the ISIS-affiliated group in the western Daraa countryside.
Jaysh Khalid ibn al-Walid launched an attack against the FSA in the western Daraa countryside on February 8 and managed to capture several positions inside Hayt, according to the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq. The ISIS-affiliated group launched its attack after repelling an Israeli-backed FSA attack on its positions.
Opposition fighters backed by Israel may launch a new attack against Jaysh Khalid ibn al-Walid soon. With the Ahrar al-Sham Movement involved, a new attack could achieve some success.
