On Friday, the Ahrar al-Sham Movement captured the section 446 inside the Armored Vehicle Base south of Harasta district east of the Syrian capital, Damascus, according to Syrian opposition sources.
The Ahrar al-Sham claimed that its fighters destroyed several vehicles inside the base. However, photos showed that these vehicles are nothing but a junk of old Soviet-made BTR-152.
According to local sources, Syrian Air Force warplanes carried out dozens of airstrikes on the positions of the Ahrar al-Sham Movement in the districts of Harasta, Duma, Hammuriyah, Zamalka, Arbain, Saqba, Jobar and Ayn Tarma in the Eastern Ghouta region.
Meanwhile, Syrian pro-government sources reported that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) ambushed a group of fighters of the Ahrar al-Sham Movement in the section 446 inside the Armored Vehicle Base. According to the sources, several militants were killed, including a field commander “Tha’er Quwaydir”.
The SAA deployed several units of the Republican Guard around the base to launch a counter attack soon, according to pro-government sources. The SAA will likely launch its counter attack after destroying most of the Ahrar al-Sham Movement units around the Armored Vehicle Base.
