After disappearing for more than two months, Abu Mohammad al-Julani, leader of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), held a meeting with eight senior commanders of other terrorist groups, including the Islamic Turkistan Party (TIP), Horas al-Din and Jaysh al-Izza, in the town of Atmaeh near the border with Turkey, Sputnik reported on April 20 citing local sources
According to the Russian news agency, the meeting was held under strickt security measures that “were never seen before” in Idlib. A 5km security zone was established around Atmeah. Furthermore, a large HTS force was deployed in the town, along with many snipers and even jamming equipment.
The local sources said that al-Julani, who was reportedly accompanied by three Turkish-speaking militants, informed other terrorist commanders that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) could launch a military operation in Idlib soon. He also ordered them to put their militants on a state of full alert and keep their vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs) prepared for operation.
“Al-Julani issued a strong threat to the leaders of armed groups and factions, warning against handing over any area within any agreement, stressing that the faction, which will hold any agreement without consulting him, will become a legitimate target for HTS’ fighters and will be treated as an enemy and a traitor,” the sources said.
The notorious terrorist leader also said that the Turkish measures will not likely hold off any attack by the SAA. He also suggested that highly-experienced militants, who were evacuated from Homs and Damascus last year, should join the ranks of Jaysh al-Izza.
Two months ago, al-Julani’s convoy was reportedly targeted by a double-tapped explosion that rocked the city center of Idlib. Back then, Russian, Syrian and Turkish sources said that the terrorist leader was injured in the attack.
The recent meeting in Atmaeh is an example of how al-Julani is leading the opposition-held part of Idlib with threats and intimidation. Several terrorist groups in southern Syria and around Damascus followed the same principles before they were defeated by the SAA.

Kurds in northern Syria need to remember that the reason why their home now is northern Syria and NE Syria is because it is there they sought and received refuge from the Syrians against the Turks. Kurdish homeland is northern Ira and a sliver of western Iran together with most of East and SE Turkey and a sliver or two along the Syrian Border with Turkey. In all that is written and spoken of the Kurds and their “homeland”, it is forgotten that northern and NE Syria are in fact the Assyrian Civilization homeland in addition to being the homeland of the Chaldeans and the descendants of many tens of thousands (then) of Armenian Christian Refugees fleeing the Ottoman slaughter of the Armenians in 1915, a Genocide that was led at the tip of the spear by Kurds. Kurds are not the majority in NE Syria nor in Syria north of Aleppo but they do represent a very large segment of the population and do constitute a majority in a few places close to Manbij and in Manbij itself. Their City of Raqqa was flattened by themselves and their ally, the US-led International Coalition and requires tens of billions in order to be rebuilt. Far better for Kurds to concentrate of rebuilding Raqqa and returning a level of normality in and to the upper Euphrates Valley rather than seeking to carve out a “homeland” based on a lie …….. the lie based on Kurds refuge in Syria throughout the 1920’s, 1930’s and 1940’s and again in the late 1980’s.

Northern Iraq is the Kurd homeland together with thin slivers along the Turkish border running west primarily made up of the descendants of Kurdish Refugees.

The majority of the Sunni Population is long used to and very much supports the idea that Syria is, should be and should remain secular with no religious denomination being allowed to write and control a Constitution and/or a Government. Sunni groups outside Syria, whether in Turkey or in Iraq or in Arabia have nothing whatsoever to do with Syria. Syria is for the People of Syria. Alone. No one else has any right, whether religious or otherwise to dictate how Syrian Society should be structured and/or controlled.
