A member of the Al Nusra Front terrorist group (Al Qaeda in Syria) says that Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki will turn over a Russia-made T-90 main battle tank to Al Nusra after a sharia ruling.
The Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki militant group is the so-called “CIA vetted” group that receives TOW missiles and other equipment from the US. However, this does not prevent it from cooperation with Al Qaeda in Syria.
We remember Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki captured a sophisticated Russian-made T-90S main battle tank on June 9 in battles around the Mallah Farms in Northern Aleppo.
How is running away on foot better then driving away from the battle in one of the best protected tanks in the world? How do these things get captured?
Maybe they got ambushed while they were outside of the tank? The SAA has been extremely incompetent as of late.
The tank lost power in the middle of the battle so it had to be abandoned. But before they left it they destroyed the optic system, the counter measure systems, and apparently tossed a couple of grenades inside as well.
In the end, the tank is worth more as scrap metal or a armored troop wall/carrier and not much else.
Oh, I see. That definetly makes more sense.

That tank is nowhere near running capable. Desert Falcon guys dropped a grenade inside (or couple) of the tank and then scurried off as the tank seized. If the Al-Nusra guys have spare parts, then they may. But I doubt it unless they get from Azerbaijan…
They destroyed the optic systems and the counter measure systems as well.
The only real usable system in this particular tank is the engine.
we don’t know for sure, as it’s been abandoned by the crew – and the tracks look intact. Probably the only use it has it’s to act like a bunker. Anyway, a LGB or a kh-29 missile from the skies and we can move on to other, more serious matters.
You can see in the pictures plain as day that the optics are destroyed, the glass is broken. Accordingly, the tank lost power. The turret is stuck facing the rear. And the FSA boys came along and managed to get the engine running again. Which wouldn’t be too terribly hard as the engine is just a diesel engine.
The rest of the tank is junk.
yep, I misworded what I meant, you said the only working part was the engine, my comment was to tell that perhaps even the engine is disabled, as the tank was a mobility kill and the tracks were intact (hence pointing to an engine failure). Anyway I find ridiculous that hundreds of ragheads are discussing over ONE single tank like it’s the victory of jihad. As I said, it’s gonna be pulverized the moment they take it out of storage – with or without engine.
ehh… It’s a symbolic victory. Alot of people on both the T-90 and the M1 abrams camp talked so much smack about these tanks that when someone bags an export version of these things it becomes a huge propaganda boon. Problem is, the export version doesn’t count as it is weaker than the real version. Sort of like: the Titanic sank, but her sister ships, the Olympic and the Brittanic were the actual “real deal” ships that were “unsinkable”.
If you notice, all of the special infrared, lights, and other sensors are broken out. Obviously from a direct hit. Also LOOK, the turret is facing backwards, cause they are trying to hide the damage done to the front. But the damage is still visible on the front of the turret. lol
