The al-Qaeda-affiliated “Wa Harid al-Muminin” operations room announced on September 26 that its special forces had raided positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the southwestern Aleppo countryside.
“The Mujahedeen of the Wa Harid al-Muminin operations room raided positions of the Nusayria army [Jihadists term for the SAA] on the axis of Hrishah in south[western] Aleppo,” a statement by the operations room reads.
According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), three Syrian service members and a terrorist of Wa Harid al-Muminin were killed in the clashes near Hrishah.
The Wa Harid al-Muminin operations room was formed last October by al-Qaeda-affiliated Jamat Ansar al-Islam, Horas al-Din, Jabhat Ansar al-Islam and Ansar al-Tawhid.
Earlier, the SAA deployed reinforcements in the southeastern Idlib countryside, likely to counter similar violations of the ceasefire agreement.
If these violations continue, the SAA and its allies will likely be forced to resume their ground operations in Greater Idlib.
