Chechen terrorist leader Muslim Abu Walid al-Shishani has finally responded to Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) recent accusations against him and his group, Junud al-Sham.
HTS had asked al-Shishani to leave the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib along with his militants, after accusing them of sheltering “fugitives”.
The terrorists addressed HTS demands and accusations in a statement released on July 2. In the statement, the terrorist, who fought alongside HTS for many years, appeared to be surprised by the group’s behavior.
The statement included a photo of an official summons sent to al-Shishani by HTS’ General Security Agency. The leader attended a meeting with a senior security official of HTS.

During the meeting, al-Shishani was again asked to leave Greater Idlib along with his militants. When he asked “why,” the official said: “power is today in the hands of Hay’at and we will not leave anyone who does not obey us or who is not under our command.”
Al-Shishani goes on in the statement to talk about the “high morals” of his militants who fought in the first and second wars of Chechnya before moving to Syria eight years ago. He also denies that any of his militants were involved in criminal offensives.
“I don’t think we deserve such treatment, we gave up so much of our time and blood in order to help you,” al-Shishani says in the statement addressing HTS.
Al-Shishani concluded the statement without clarifying if he had accepted or rejected HTS’ demands. Last week, sources in Greater Idlib said that the leader had rejected the demands.
HTS has been tearlessly working to solidify its grip on Greater Idlib as well as to promote itself as the legitimate ruler and defender of the region. Today, many in the region despite the group because of this behavior.
