Despite the fact that the current Prime Minister of Iraq, Muhammad al-Sudani, warmly received the leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Ziyad Nakhalah, questions about his “uncompromising” pro-Palestinian position raise questions.
For example, a well-known faction of the Islamic Resistance called the “People of the Cave” ask quite reasonable questions to the government of al-Sudani about the activities of the American military, among which there are Zionists.
It is obvious that the “People of the Cave” are still warning the Prime Minister of the country and it is obvious that the patience of the veterans of the jihad against the American occupiers is far from limitless.
As for the political criticism of al-Sudani, back in early April, shortly before Ziyad Nakhalah’s visit to Baghdad, the Sadrist movement held a pro-Palestinian rally in the city of Nasiriyah, opposing “al-Sudani’s attempt to normalize relations with Zionism.” The reason for the anti-government meeting was a video conference dedicated to democracy, which was attended by the criminal Netanyahu. The conference was organized by Biden’s team.
Thus, despite the close alliance with Sheikh Khazali (leader Asaib al-Haq) in terms of the leadership of the country, who has long been known as one of the important figures in the alliance “The Axis of Resistance,” Prime Minister Al-Sudani manages to maintain a balance between Iran and the United States.
Over time, such a contradictory situation will lead to the collapse of the ruling tandem, which in the case of Iraq is fraught with a protracted political crisis. Prominent and authoritative cleric Muqtada Sadr knows the final outcome of Al-Sudani’s rule and therefore began preparing for the next round of political struggle. Sadr took a break for a year.
Al-Sudani’s behavior shows once again that it absolutely does not matter which figure is in the post of Prime Minister of Iraq, in one form or another, he is obliged to observe the balance between the United States and Iran. These are the conditions of the quota system.
As for Al-Sudani’s associates in the government, the so-called “coordination structure”, among these people, despite their anti-Zionist and anti-American rhetoric, there were those who are ready to cooperate with the Americans. This was proved after a meeting of some individuals associated with Hashad al-Shaabi and the resistance factions, with the US Ambassador to Iraq – Alina Romanovsky. Thus, on the one hand, the members of the “coordination structure” meet with the leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and on the other hand, these same people are ready to go to Washington for a dialogue about “cooperation”.
Iraq is coming to a crossroads, a choice is brewing, either a quota system or revolutionary actions. This dilemma will haunt Iraqi society in all matters, and the Palestinian direction is no exception. As for the coalition of Maliki, Ameri, Hakim and Sheikh Khazali, their behavior is not surprising, their union (coordination structure) is a temporary phenomenon, for its part, Muqtada Sadr remains unshakable, uncompromising and the only politician with a clear vision and certain requirements. Muqtada can be proud of the absence of duplicity and double play. On the Palestinian issue, it was also Sadr who set the pace last year, when the Iraqi parliament passed an anti-Zionist law at his suggestion.
It seems that only with the political strengthening of Sadr’s influence, the Islamic World will see a real shift in Iraq towards the holy Al-Quds.
