The United States on March 13 offered a reward of up to $10 million for information about senior Iranian military and intelligence ‌officials, including its new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.

The reward, announced by the State Department, targets ten officials associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Mojtaba succeeded his father, Ali Khamenei, who was killed along with several other top Iranian officials in the opening strikes of the American-Israeli war on February 28. He is reported to have been injured in the strikes, but hasn’t been seen publicly since, although he released his first statement.

In addition to the supreme leader, the U.S. is seeking information about Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani, Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib, Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and two officials in Khamenei’s office.

Four other officials, including the IRGC commander and secretary of the defense council, were also listed, without their photos or names.

“These individuals command and direct various elements of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which plans, organises and executes terrorism around the world,” the State Department said.

It urged people to send information via Tor or Signal and said “your information could make you eligible for relocation and a reward.”

Earlier in the day, Larijani attending a Quds Day rally in Tehran, alongside President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi despite an assertion by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete ‌Hegseth that Iran’s leadership was “cowering” underground.

Larijani responded to ‌Hegseth after the reward announcement, saying on X that American leaders were “on Epstein’s island!” a reference to the scandal surrounding financier and child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein who had relations at the highest of levels in the U.S.

“Mr. Hegseth! Our leaders have been, and still are, among the people. But your leaders? On Epstein’s island!” he wrote.

It’s worth noting that the war on Iran, codenamed by the U.S. military “Operation Epic Fury” has been widely referred to on social networks as “Operation Epstein Fury,” with people calling the American-Israeli alliance the “Epstein coalition.” The war in itself is seen by many as an attempt to distract from the Epstein case files, which the U.S. government began releasing just weeks earlier.

All in all, the U.S. does not appear to be winning the media war, and its recent reward indicates that its intelligence may be also losing the covert war.

usually older leaders have more moderation, if they keep killing the older leadership the younger ones taking their place would be more impulsive and perhaps more blood thirsty.
they would have to take a lot more of the irgc and basij forces to end the regime.
is not possible without using nooks and ground forces.
