On September 5, a large ammo depot in the outskirts of the Turkish-occupied town of Azaz in the northern Aleppo countryside exploded.
The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said the ammo depot, which was located on a road between Azaz and the nearby village of Kafr Kalbin, had belonged to the Turkish-backed Ahrar al-Sham Movement.
“[The explosion] caused fires in houses surrounding the depot’s location, there is no information on any human losses,” the monitoring group said in a report.
Like many other oppositions armed groups, the Ahrar al-Sham is known for storing weapons and ammunition in civilian areas.

Last July, an ammunition depot of the Turkish-backed al-Shamiya Front located in the outskirt of the town of Shamarin exploded. The depot’s explosion claimed the lives of three children and a woman at a nearby refugee camp.
In the last few years, several reports claimed that Turkey would force its proxies to remove their military installations from civilian areas. However, nothing was done.
