Another Arab Leader Will Visit Damascus Next Month - Report

File image

Mauritania’s President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz will be the second Arab leader to visit Syria and meet the country’s President Bashar al-Assad the Mauritanian al-Jawahir newspaper reported on December 29 citing senior officials.

The visit, which will supposedly take place in the first half of the upcoming month, was arranged upon an official invitation from al-Assad. According to al-Jawahir, Abdel Aziz decided to accept the invitation recently.

“The sources said that some of the employees of the Syrian embassy have confirmed the visit to their affiliates,” al-Jawahir said in its report.

Earlier this month, Sudan’s President, Omar al-Bashir, became the first Arab leader to visit Syria and meet with Assad since the outbreak of the Syrian war. The meeting marked the restart of Syrian-Arab relations, as both the UAE and Bahrain reopened their embassies in Damascus days later.

Beside the Mauritanian President, Damascus is expected to host several high-ranking officials from Egypt, UAE, Jordan and Bahrain in the upcoming few weeks. According to several recent reports, all of these efforts are a part of a Saudi-Egyptian plan to restore Syria’s seat in the Arab League.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

I’ve been saying 19 out of the 20 Arab League members will eventually turn up on Assad’s doorstep, but I was wrong, it’s actually going to be 20 out of 20 turning up, even the Saudis are making grumbling noises now and will have to go to Assad eventually, LOL, things can change so much in just 12 months can’t they.

“…. things can change so much in just 12 months can’t they.”

Indeed they can. Rumor has it that this topic is going to be brought up again soon.

Zionism = EVIL

Historically, Damascus and Baghdad have been the heart and soul of the Arab world. The rest of the peninsula Bedouins and African Egyptian Negroes have always been on the margins as they are not Arabs anyway. There can be no peace in the region without Syria..

Willing Conscience (The Truths

I think it would be even more correct to say this, there can never be peace in Syria or the whole region while the US and Israel have so much political and economical power over their neighbours, that has to end for the Arabs to really be able to cooperate effectively, and not just with other Arabs, with anybody at all that provides a mutual benefit for its members, not like the one way street they had with the US.

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

Are these Arab “leaders” worth the bother? What exactly have they “lead” the Arab world to? The disastrous regime change operations in Syria, the genocide in Yemen, the fake Arab “spring”, the collaboration with Israel, the sell-out of the Palestinians and the rivalry with Iran that allows any outside Tom, Dick and Harry to play their murderous expansionist games. These “Arab leaders” should be re-incarnated as donkeys as soon as possible to atone for their war crimes against the Arab people.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

You’re too late, that’s what you say when the Arab League begins behaving badly, not when they’re making amends for their past stupidity and starting to behave in a civilized manner. If you go back 12 months or more and follow what the Arab League’s been doing since then you’d get a shock, what you see now in Syria is all thanks to the Arab League no one else, they effectively ended Israeli/US/EU opposition to Assad remaining in power more than 6 months ago, and that should have ended the war, but due ONLY to Erdogan’s insane antics, we still have problems. The ARAB LEAGUE CONVINCED THE US, ISRAEL AND THE EU TO STOP HOSTILITIES TOWARDS SYRIA. THEY PUT THE STUPID SAUDIS IN THEIR PLACE AND ARE KEEPING THEM THERE. THEY’RE PLACING DOMESTIC REGIONAL ISSUES ABOVE US/ISRAELI DEMANDS. THEY’RE TRYING TO MEND THE RIFT BETWEEN THE SAUDIS AND THE IRANIANS AND TRYING TO ENCOURAGE COOPERATION IN THE REGION BETWEEN THE 2 PARTIES. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY OF THE ARAB LEAGUE THEY’RE MAKING THEIR OWN REGIONS NEEDS A PRIORITY, NOT KOWTOWING TO THE US. King Abdullah of Jordan was the first to see the light and he spread the word, all the other Arab nations except for the Saudis followed soon after, and after being isolated for 6 months the Saudis are also willing to start compromising now, I can only applaud Arab League behaviour lately, since they aren’t putting a foot wrong anymore and getting everything right. I suspect Putin has a lot do do with the change, the relationship he has with Iran now would make it much easier for him to influence affairs in the region, and bring about the dramatic changes we’re seeing for the first time in the regions recent history. Israel’s the biggest loser out of all this, and the best part is there’s nothing they can really do about it, they just have to put up with it, which makes me suspect even more that this is all down to Putin in some way or another.

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

” what you see now in Syria is all thanks to the Arab League no one else, they effectively ended Israeli/US/EU opposition to Assad remaining in power more than 6 months ago.” You’re joking, right? Your’e not the secretary of that bankrupt and immoral organisation, are you? Syria came back from the brink because of Syrians, with the sacrifice of their own lives and that of their steadfast allies from Russia, Iran, Iraq, Hezbollah, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Palestine. How many Egyptians died fighting IS in Palmyra? How many Jordanians died defending Aleppo from the head-chopping Wahabist hordes? How many Sudanese died protecting Damascus from the Salafist barbarians? How many Mautianians died in Douma driving out the Saudi funded and US/EU/NATO/GCC/Israeli armed “moderate” head-choppers? The Arab League is a sick organisation that should be put down like a pig with swine flu. Time to start a New Arab/Muslim Federation, with its capital in Damascus, from Morocco to Indonesia, with a gap for my own birth country of mighty India, and from Syria to Yemen. Now this New Arab/Muslim Federation will be a true superpower in the world that will hold its own in partnership with the other poles of the multi-polar world: US, EU, China, India, Russia, SE Asia, African Federation, Latin American Federation and others. The Arab League belongs in the dustbin of history, with its “leaders” in jail for war-crimes against Syria and Yemen.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

No I’m not joking, I’ve been reading the news and paying attention to all the IMPORTANT STUFF, not the the multitude of moronic propaganda stories I have to sift through to find the good stuff, you should be too instead of asking “You’re joking, right?”. It’s all in black and white and easy to confirm with a simple google search. You’re missing the point and crying out for new leadership, but why ask for that now, it’s not needed if the players have all started playing a different tune, it’s just like you’re saying, sack the band for playing a bad song first up, and then when they play a crowd pleaser as the second song, you still called for them to get off the stage. Sorry but the attitude you have now is what got the Arab League to where it was 12 months ago, I’m going to applaud their change of tune and encourage them to keep playing more favorites. As to lock up all the Arab league leaders for war crimes, what about the Iranians and the Iraqis, do you want to lock them up too. What about the true perpetrators of the war and the major funders, the US, Israel, UK, France, Germany, Canada and Australia [my countrymen helped kill 200 SAA protecting Deir ez Zor], I could go on but the list is too long, what should we do with all them, give them a medal? Give credit where credit’s due, that’s a good saying, and the reason it’s good is it’s telling you if you do give credit where credit’s due, there’s a good chance you might get even more, the region needs more good credit, and from what I can see, the regions both giving and getting it now.

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

“As to lock up all the Arab league leaders for war crimes, what about the Iranians and the Iraqis, do you want to lock them up too.” Yes, lock em up! Lock em up!! Lock em up!!! From Blair, Bush to Howard the Aussie coward, lock em all up! That disgusting war criminal Blair now seeks to interfere in the Brexit process when he should be hanged for war-crimes. I like your positivity and optimism regarding the Arab League, but they have the blood of millions on their hands. Syria has been through national hell and they deserve a new beginning, providing leadership to the whole Arab and Muslim world. Assad may want to re-enter the very same blood-soaked organisation, and that his hard-earned right, but why would he really want to sleep with such disgusting snakes? As for the Iran-Iraq war, this was instigated, armed and funded by the very same US/EU/NATO/GCC gangsters. Millions died for nothing under the war leader Saddam Hussein, the very same who was executed when he became inconvenient for these gangsters. It is enough that Syria, Iran, Iraq and even Turkey are finally on the same side, and they will re-build the region together. I am no Syrian. I am no Arab. But, if I were, I would still say, stuff the Arab League and start again with a Pan Arab Federation with the capital as Damascus. Good win for India at the MCG but the Aussies must get Smith and Warner back, despite the damage they have done to all of cricket. Happy New Year!

Willing Conscience (The Truths

“Lock em all up”, ahh, if only we could. “Good win for India at the MCG but the Aussies must get Smith and Warner back, despite the damage they have done to all of cricket”. My point exactly when it comes to the Arab league, forgive but don’t forget, and then try to make a brand new start, the Arab League and the Aussie cricket team have at least one thing in common, don’t they. Thankyou and Happy New Year to you too.

Kelli Hernandez

You’re exactly right. Love or hate him (I happen to admire him), Putin is a true diplomat working behind the scenes to bring countries together according their strategic goals. Only ISRAHELL has a problem with this which the US will too.
