The Russian Military Police and the Turkish Armed Forces had conducted a joint training in the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib, deputy head of the coordination center in the de-escalation zone of Idlib, Yevgeny Polyakov, announced on September 5.
“Training was held to repel attacks by armed groups on military convoys,” Polyakov said, according to RT.
According to Polyakov, the troops trained on emergency situations that they may face while conducting joint patrols on the M4 highway, which links Lattakia and Aleppo.
Russian and Turkish troops trained to improve coordination and cooperation during the patrols, to call for support in case of any attacks and to evacuate troops and equipment.
This was the second joint training between Russian and Turkish troops. The first training took place in the town of Ternaba on August 31 and September 1.
The Russian Military Police and the Turkish Armed Forces have conducted 25 patrols on the M4 highway in Greater Idlib since the signing of the ceasefire agreement on March 5. Jihadists targeted the patrols on several occasions, most recently on August 25.
Russia and Turkey appear to be determined to secure the M4 highway. This is the main term of the March 5 agreement on Greater Idlib.
These guys think we are stupid or what?!…
Most on this site fall for this charade, so yes, it seems most are stupid.
The Russian soldier in the photo looks embarrassed to be there and I don’t blame him, he’d probably be thinking but these guys were giving the terrorists grad rocket launchers so they could target our air bases just a while ago, and they shot down a few of our aircraft to protect their terrorists, and now were going to go on patrol with them, so he must be wondering WTF is going on, and feeling more than just a little unsafe too.
A few months ago Turkey got HTS to break up some protests by pro Turkish supporters [not HTS supporters] because they were protesting against the reopening of the M4 highway, which is strange to say the least, why would Turkey get HTS to stop protests by pro Turkish supporters, normally the Turks would be expected to stop their own people protesting, not get HTS to do it for them. But it worked back then and I’m thinking it could work again, so maybe the Turks should ask HTS to help them again, help them stop the pro Turkish supporters attacking Turkey, since Turkey has absolutely no control over it’s own people. HTS supporters don’t attack their own leaders, they just attack all these pro Turkish dickheads instead.
It’s cross politics
It’s called smart domestic political strategy, and Assad’s a lot better at it than either Iran or Russia give him credit for, but I’ll bet both are paying attention to his strategy now.
