Kiev forces sustained more losses and failed to make any meaningful gains during the eleventh weeks of their counteroffensive.
The Russian Ministry of Defense provided details on recent Ukrainian losses in different directions during a briefing on August 20.
In Zaporozhye direction, another large-scale attack by Kiev forces was repelled close to Rabotino and Verbovoye. Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to up to 135 troops, two tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles, two Stryker armored personnel carriers, three motor vehicles, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery system, a American-made M777 towed artillery system as well as British-made FH-79 and American-made M119 towed howitzers and an American-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar.
Meanwhile in the Donetsk direction, the Russian Yug Group of Forces repelled six Ukrainian attacks close to Andreyevka, Veseloye, Krasnogorovka, Pervomaiskoye, Veseloye, Maiorsk and Staromikhailovka.
Up to 280 Ukrainian troops killed and wounded during the fighting in this direction, according to the ministry. In addition, six armored fighting vehicles, two armored fighting vehicles, two motor vehicles, an American-made M777 artillery system as well as D-20 and D-30 towed howitzers were destroyed.
Moreover, field ammunition depots of of Kiev forces were targeted and destroyed close to Kostantinovka and Ivano-Daryevka.
In the South Donetsk direction, the Russian Vostok Group of Forces targeted several units of Kiev forces near Staromayorskoye and Urozhainoye.
The group also neutralized four sabotage and reconnaissance groups from Ukraine’s 56th Mechanized Brigade and 38th Marine Brigade close to Marfopol, Chervonoye and Urozhainoye.
During the fighting in this direction, more than 130 Ukrainian troops, a tank, three armored fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles, a Msta-B towed howitzer and a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system were neutralized, according to the ministry.
In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian Zapad Group of Forces repelled six Ukrainian attacks close to Olshana, Sinkovka, Ivanovka and Novoselovskoye. Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to 60 troops, two infantry fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system and a D-30 towed howitzer.
In the Krasny Liman direction, the Russian Tsentr Group of Forces repelled three attacks by Kiev forces close to Torskoye and Belogorovka. The ministry said that 70 Ukrainian troops as well as two armored fighting vehicles and two pickup trucks were neutralized during the fighting in this direction.
Meanwhile in the Kherson direction, up to 30 Ukrainian troops and two motor vehicles were neutralized as a result of Russian military fire.
The Russian MoD also provided the following details during its briefing:
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of groups of forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation engaged manpower and military hardware of the enemy in 153 areas during the past day.
Air defense systems intercepted three HIMARS projectiles and shot down one HARM anti-radiation missile.
Moreover, 23 AFU’s unmanned aerial vehicles have been shot down near Novopetrikovka, Zaitsevo, Yakovlevka, Pavlovka, Semigorie (Donetsk People’s Republic), Tokmak (Zaporozhye region), Kamenka, Novoalekseyevka (Kherson region) and Lisichansk (Lugansk People’s Republic).
In total, 461 airplanes and 246 helicopters, 5,877 unmanned aerial vehicles, 431 air defense missile systems, 11,409 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,144 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 5,951 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 12,334 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation.
In addition, Russian news sources shared video showing recent strikes with Lancet loitering munitions and FPV suicide drones. The strikes destroyed several pieces of military equipment, including an American-made AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radar.
Despite sustaining heavy losses and failing to make any meaningful gains for around eleven weeks, the Kiev regime will not likely halt the counteroffensive. Kiev forces may continue to launch attacks until next autumn, or even winter if weather conditions allowed.
