A Czech factory that produces drones and has ties to a major Israeli arms company was set on fire on March 20, with a shadowy anti-Israel group claiming responsibility.
The fire burned down the entire factory, located at a business park in the central city of Pardubice, some 100 kilometers east of the capital, Prague. No casualties were reported, however.
Czech police chief Martin Vondrasek told reporters that police were investigating “a deliberately started blaze” and “intensively seeking those who committed the crime.”
Prime Minister Andrej Babiš called the incident “very serious,” while Interior Minister Lubomir Metnar said that “there is a likely link to a terror attack.”

LPP Holding confirmed in a statement that it was the target of the fire and said that it was cooperating with investigators. The Czech-based technology company specializes in the development, production, and integration of advanced military and civilian defense technologies. Its product portfolio centers on artificial intelligence, optoelectronics, and unmanned vehicles.
Two Czech news outlets reported they had received an email from a group called the Earthquake Faction saying it had set fire to “a key production center for Israeli weapons.”
Voxpot news site, one of the outlets which received the Earthquake Faction’s statement, said that the group’s “internet domain was registered yesterday.”
A video released by the group showed its members breaking into the factory, seizing documents, then setting the whole facility on fire.
LPP Holding had previously said it was planning to open a center to develop and produce drones and train personnel in cooperation with Israeli Elbit Systems. The company is also known for supplying drones and other weapons to the Ukrainian military.
The incident came amid the ongoing American-Israeli war on Iran, but there are no known links between the Earthquake Faction and the Islamic Republic.
Following the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip, several factories in the United Kingdom and European Union linked to Elbit Systems and other Israeli arms companies were targeted in a way or another, with the Palestine Action group claiming responsibility in most causes.
