A 83-strong group of Armenian specialists including sappers, doctors and security personnel arrived in the Syrian city of Aleppo on February 8 to provide humanitarian aid to the Syrian people.

“The Republic of Armenia has decided to provide humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people due to the harsh humanitarian conditions in Syria, especially in Aleppo, following the heavy military operations, and based on UN Security Council’s Resolution 2393 of 2017 and Resolution 2401 of 2018, as well as based on written requests from Syria and due to a large Armenian community in Aleppo,” an official statement by the Ministry of Defense (DoD) of Armenia reads.

The Armenian DoD stressed that the specialists will only work in the areas where no military operations are being carried out. Russian Forces will be providing transportation and security for the group.

Aleppo was home to more than 60,000 Syrian Armenians prior to the war. The Free Syrian Army (FSA) attack on the eastern part of the city in 2012 forced most of them to flee to safer areas within the country or even to return to Armenia.

Since the beginning of the Russian anti-terrorism operation in Syria, Armenia has stepped up its humanitarian efforts in the war-torn country. The deployment of the specialists group is considered a new height in these efforts.

Good news!

FlorianGeyer

Yes, more nations should engage with the Assad government in the struggle to restore Syria from the dark years of US/Israeli aggression.

Kenny Jones

Hope Iran will end Israel soon.

Lupus

Good people

RichardD

Great, wonderful news!

Kenny Jones

They should also send soldiers to fight for Assad and arms to form militias.

Kevork Sulahian

Actually the current Syrian government’s relationship isn’t as good as the previous (Hafez Al-Assad), this has nothing to do with the government but the Armenian diaspora.

Kenny Jones

syria is much better off under assad, whether it is hafez, bashar, .. he protects numerous christian communities, including armenians. therefore, they should help him fight the rebel terrorists, sponsored by the west and israel.

Kevork Sulahian

All I wanted to say is that Hafez was closer to Armenia than Bashar. I know that the government didn’t discriminate Armenians of Syria, I’m from Aleppo

Jaffar al-Majmuni

Love this but..wasnt Armenia victim of a colour revolution last year?

Jaffar al-Majmuni

So i wonder why they support Syria instead of doing the opposite (like the so called “anti isis coalition”)

Tommy Jensen

Maybe there is some “equal partners” somewhere.

Ronald

20 ‘% of Syria’s Army is Christian, why wouldn’t they support them ? ‘anti isis coalition’ is just a dream the Americans sold the Kurds.

Tommy Jensen

WHAT? Doctors, nurses, sappers, street police, hospital eqm pouring into Syria organised by Russia, 1500 foreign ISIS fighters, 600 US Water Boarding specialists pouring into Syria organised by US/Nato.

It looks coordinated in some way yes?

Real Anti-Racist Action

More Christians should be rushing to help our Monotheist brothers and sisters in Syria defend and defeat the terrorist who murder all Monotheist. Monotheist Unite!

iosongasingsing

This aid to the Syrian government indicates that Armenia does not go through US-ISISRAEL.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

The more the merrier, solidarity in the face of adversity is always a great rallying signal, hopefully more countries will ignore the US’s threat of sanctions and do the same thing.
