Recent developments of the Armenian-Azerbaijani war in the Nagorno-Karabakh region:
- On November 8, Azerbaijani forces captured Shusha, Azerbaijani President said;
- On November 8, Azerbaijani forces launched a storm of Shusha. Armenian civilians are fleing the city;
- On November 7, Azerbaijan artillery shelled the city of Stepanakert;
- On November 7, Azerbaijan artillery shelled the Davit Bek area inside Armenia;
- On November 8, Armenian artillery shelled the areas of Tartar, Aghjabedi and Aghdam, according to Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense;
- On November 7, Armenian artillery shelled the areas of Tovuz, Gadabay and Dashkesan, according to Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense;
- On November 8, Armenian forces shot down an Azerbaijani drone on the eastern front, according to Armenian Ministry of Defense;
- On November 8, Azerbaijan lost 5 UAVs, 13 armored vehicles, 105 personnel during the last 24 hours, according to Armenian Ministry of Defense.
I’ve been checking topographic maps of the area. Shush(a/i) is surrounded by steep slopes, virtually cliffs. A reasonably competent military should have been able to hold it for a while, even with the enemy controlling the air. Since a mass exodus of civilians is happening, it seems that the reasonably competent military on the defending side has collapsed. Stepanakert will probably be evacuated without a battle once the Azeris begin moving North towards it.
You can’t defend for a long time your position without supply routes. You need food, guns, ammo, medicine and fresh troops, while injured and wounded must be sent to the hospitals inside of your territory. No supply routes = no defense.
Which is what I also predicted right from the start: the Azeri side will interdict Lachin and once Lachin is blocked the end is near. The ludicrous Armeniganda promising titanic victories apparently wasn’t aware of that simple fact.

Armenians could make multilayered defense in the mountains. But who needs those defense points when everybody knows that Armenians are the chosen nation and they win battles before battles are started.
Azer captured the heights around Shusha outflanking it first, then it would be impossible for Armenia to hold Shusha as Azer could rain down fire on it and see where Armenia fire in teh city is coming from.
Main defenses are completely broken. What is left just pockets of outposts to be cleared. If the Armenian soldiers are smart, they should join the civilian convoy and leave the area.
