The Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire on the positions of the Armenian army near the village of Verin Shorzha in the Gegharkunik region on May 25, according to the press service of the Armenian Defense Ministry.
“On May 25, at about 14:20 near the border village of Verin Shorzha, Gegharkunik region of Armenia, the enemy fired at Armenian positions. The details of the incident are being specified,” the statement says.
An Armenian soldier was killed as a result of the fire-fight that began after the Azerbaijani forces opened fire in the Verin Shorzha border region, the press service of the Armenian military department reported.
The victim was identified as a junior sergeant V. Khurshudyan.
The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan denied reports of shelling at the positions of the Armenian army, claiming that the Armenian soldier’s death was an accident.
“The Ministry of Defense of Armenia has once again disseminated false information about the alleged shelling of positions in the settlement of Verin Shorzha in the Gegharkunik region on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border by Azerbaijani Armed Forces. We declare that no fire was opened in the direction of the opposite side,” – the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan said in a statement.
Earlier in May, the Azerbaijani military advanced in Syunik province in order to “adjust the border”. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan confirmed that Azerbaijan seized Sev Lake, but that there were no skirmishes between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces.
those fucking azeri monkeys are asking for some russian bombing!
The Azeri seem to believe that Russia won’t honor it’s CSTO obligations to Armenia because of Armenia’s Western oriented government. Azerbaijan wants to use small military incidents including lethal force in order to pressure Armenia for concessions before there’s an election in Armenia that turns the current government out and perhaps brings in one more to Moscow’s liking. That seems smart by Russia to ignore most of the provocations and thereby sends the signal to all CSTO member states that playing things too close to the West is a ticket to facing extreme security challenges on your own, CSTO membership or not.
turkic people dont think like this, they are no strategists, but its their tactic to check limitis.
when the turks see weakness they will attack, Alijev is more Erdogollums Lapdog than Putins.
They see the opportunity, because Russia is not in best ties with Armenia and Azerbaijan was never so much stronger than Armenia. The Turks wanna take more of Armenia and connect Turkey with Azerbaijan.
Depends if you believe way of thinking is formed based on genetics rather than experience and upbringing.
Has nothing to do with genetics, just when i watch turkish history from 1000a.D. till now. i know turks very well some of my best friends are from Sivas, Balkan people know them very well.
i dont hate turks or turkey i hate neo ottoman ambitions in other countries, in which people are not turkic, I hate opression!
But why Russia re Takis why don’t you do it yourself typical Greek mentality you want everyone to do you a favour.. typical f****** greek way of thinking
Lol you do it.. Why me.. We had you the turks to do all the hard work since the ottoman years
Aliyev is becoming as reckless as Erdogan.
Russia probably asked Azer to do these things.
Amart by Russia to do this and to ignore most of the provocations and thereby sends the signal to all CSTO member states that playing things too close to the West is a ticket to facing extreme security challenges on your own, CSTO membership or not.
Russians have proven to be nearly worthless as allies ……with friends like these who needs enemies? CSTO is a Mickey Mouse alliance worthless as well …..soon enough when turkey aims their guns at Russia along with NATO the chickens will come home to roost!
Yeah, Armenia did “great” job past 30 Years in “protecting” NK. NATO did great effort in moral support too.
“Russians have proven to be nearly worthless as allies ” Russia is the only thing standing between Armenia and another Armenian genocide and they know it. The US/EU will come to Armenia’s aid as quick as they did the south vietnamese, polish pre ww2 or more recently, the Kurds in Syria against Turkey.
Looks like premeditated, precalculated set of actions that most of the players were aware of before the incident, judging by the lack of reaction.
