On December 12, Syrian security forces discovered an underground tunnel containing more than 20 disassembled anti-aircraft missiles on the Syrian-Jordanian border, southwest of the Nasib crossing, according to the Russian state-run news agency Sputnik.
“The armed groups placed their headquarters and weapons depots on the border area with Jordan,” a security source told Sputnik.
Experts identified the surface-to-air missiles as the Soviet-made V-750 and V-600, which are used in the S-75 and S-125 air defense systems. Dozens of these missiles were stolen by the Free Syrian Army (FSA) from Syrian air defense bases in southern Syria in the period from 2012 to 2014.
In a related development, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) announced that the SAA had uncovered four weapons caches in the eastern and western countryside of Daraa during search operations.
The weapons caches contained the following weapons:
-An Iranian Raad anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) launcher and four missile;
-3 Soviet-made Fagot ATGMs;
-1 Soviet-made Konkurs ATGM;
-1 Russian-made Metis-M ATGM;
-Several rounds for the Soviet-made RPG-29 anti-tank weapon;
-A RPO-A thermobaric rocket launcher;
-A RPG-27 anti-tank rocket-propelled grenade;
-Several US-made M72 LAW anti-tank rocket-propelled grenades;
-loads of ammunition and many machine guns of different calibers.
The SAA seized thousands of tons of weapons in southern Syria over the last three months. Most of these weapons were hidden by radical militants and smugglers.

And now more weapon finds being discovered, but many not so large. Looks like the Syrian govt has put out a reward for info about locations. Cleanup and rebuild of Syria is good, it’s a process in the right direction. :)
Incredible what Israel has been doing , hasn’t it ? and still Russia talk to Israel kindly, even when IL-20 was planned by Israel carefully.
I know, Southern Front is sucking wind for money, this is a good site, unlike Drudge you actually do more than just link other articles, you do some original content.
In any case, I’d love to see an article on how many weapons have been uncovered by the ‘FSA / Nusra’ gang that were smuggled into Syria as opposed to captured from the Syrian arsenal or manufactured locally. Tracing the origin is difficult in many cases, the U.S. buys or transports the stuff from eastern Europe and its funded by the Gulf States but the stuff looks like it is Soviet made to confuse people.
I bet most of the ammunition and weapons were imported. The FSA / Nusra could not have captured that much ammunition to keep a war going for 5 yrs. It’s funny, the U.S. hyperventilates about one anti-tank weapon they can trace to Iran in Yemen but the war against Syria could not have lasted without foreigners enabling it.
