Clashes between army troops and Boko Haram militants have been reported in the Nigerian states of Borno and Adamawa.
- On February 9, a soldier and a local village chief were killed in an attack by Boko Haram gunmen in Adamawa state. According to reprots, the army repelled the attack after a 2-hour long firefight.
- On February 8, the army repelled an attack by Boko Haram militants in Mallam Fatori, Borno state. According to pro-government sources, the army eliminated “scores” of militants in the clashes. Later, pro-Boko Haram soruces also claimed that several army troops had been killed.
