On January 11, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Tiger Forces, supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces, recaptured most of the positions they had lost to militants in the villages of Atshan, Tell Maraq, Ard az ZurZur and Umm al-Khalakhil in the southeastern Idlib countryside, according to the Hezbollah media wing in Syria.

Moreover, Syrian pro-government source claimed that the SAA killed several fighters of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies and captured many others while repelling the militants’ attack.

Meanwhile the Hezbollah media wing reported that in the southwestern Aleppo countryside the SAA captured the villages of Eluf, Umm Gharaf, Umm Ghabar, Sabihat, Eitatan and Umm Sanabil southwest of Khanasir. Thus, the SAA units southwest of Khanasir are now deployed within only 3km from positions of the Tiger Forces south of the Abu Duhur airbase.

From its side, pro-oppositions sources said that HTS and its allies will soon renew their counter-attack against the SAA in southeastern Idlib. Some sources even claimed that HTS is planning to launch a new-counter attack from its positions in Mount Hass northeast of the Abu Duhur airbase, which is very possible.

Observers believe that HTS and its allies will not be able to the SAA advance and government forces will likely capture the enntire region between the southwestern Aleppo countryside and the southeastern Idlib countryside.
